A huge moment for me

On Thursday afternoon, something amazing happened: We passed 1,000 paid subscribers for this newsletter!

I honestly am amazed we got to such a big number so quickly. I have only been writing the newsletter for 9 months and haven’t done any sort of organized (or paid) push for subscribers.

As you likely know, this has been a very difficult year for me. I lost my job and then my father-in-law in quick succession — body blows that left me reeling.

This newsletter — the process of writing every day, of building a community from scratch — has been a salvation for me. It’s helped me work through my lowest days and realize there are brighter ones to come.

So, thank you. Thank you for investing in me and what I am trying to do here. It means a ton.

(I’m going to do this same thing for next month’s debate.) I am going to start putting all of my breakdowns of Donald Trump’s interviews behind the paywall as well.
