Hello from snowy Washington, D.C. where my kids stayed home more this week (3 days) than they went to school (2 days).
Iowa is in the rearview mirror. We are four days away from the New Hampshire primary and, I think, likely the effective end of the Republican presidential race. (I think Donald Trump is going to win New Hampshire.)
And Joe Biden is beginning to slowly gear up his own presidential bid — even as whispers about whether he will be on the ticket continue to swirl.
Lots of good questions this week. Let’s jump right in!
Q: Everyone (including you) are talking about the “unprecedented” Iowa caucus results achieved by Trump. Is this really a fair apples-to-apples comparison versus Bob Dole? I mean, Trump is a former President of the United States. Wouldn’t a better comparison be against other former Presidents? I know the dynamics are a bit different, with usually a much smaller field and a presumed pick from the start, but one could argue that Trump is a presumed pick from the start here too. I guess what I am saying is that I am not as impressed as the media that the former President, and leader of the party, scored “only” 51% of the votes. Am I wrong?
