👀 Inside the ass-whipping Ken Paxton delivered Tuesday

My weekly chat with Matt Lewis!

I left legacy media to build something different: independent, honest political analysis that isn’t owned by corporations or parties.

I call balls and strikes—no matter who’s at bat—because what’s missing right now are referees, not cheerleaders ⚾.

If you want clear, concise takes that cut through the noise (without the cable-news theatrics), this is the newsletter for you 🎯.

Subscribe if you believe politics is better when someone just tells you what actually matters rather than just what you want to hear 🧠.

Ken Paxton didn’t just win the Texas Senate Republican runoff on Tuesday.

He CRUSHED John Cornyn.

According to Decision Desk HQ’s vote count, Paxton is at 64% to Cornyn’s 36%.

Of the state’s 254 counties, Cornyn won just two — Travis (Austin) and Kenedy. And in Kennedy, a total of 8 votes were cast; Cornyn got six, Paxton two. 😂😂😂

I mean, WOW.

Paxton’s victory has a massive impact not just in Texas but in the broader national political world as well.

My friend Matt Lewis and I sifted through the Texas entrails (gross!) on Wednesday morning.

Among the questions we tried to answer:

  • Should Democrats be worried by Paxton’s massive margin?

  • How much will Paxton’s win cost national Republicans (HINT: It’s a LOT.)

  • Is the Paxton vs James Talarico general election race a toss-up — or not?

  • What does Paxton’s win mean for the Senate majority fight?

  • Could Paxton drag down Republicans running for House in Texas?

If you want to get caught up on everything that happened in Texas on Tuesday night — and what it all MEANS — this is the conversation you need to listen to!
