It doesn't matter who the next Speaker is

Scalise? Jordan? Hern? Whatever.

Less than 24 hours after Kevin McCarthy was unceremoniously removed from the speakership, the race to replace him is officially on.

Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise is making calls to solicit support. Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan sent a letter to his Republican colleagues on Wednesday announcing his bid. Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern, who heads up the conservative Republican Study Committee, is weighing a bid. Other names — most notably Florida Rep. Byron Donalds — are being mentioned.

But, here’s the thing: It doesn’t matter who the next Speaker is!
