"In any previous administration, Hegseth would be gone."

In any other administration, he wouldn't have been appointed! He wasn't qualified!

If Hegseth stays, I'm worried we might not be able to invade Canada.

An immature frat boy way ahead of his skies, out of his element, unqualified, and too egocentric, insecure, and arrogant to know it.

There has been a least some amount of time in the past two weeks that he actively avoided press, and I think that's how you lose in this administration. Defiance needs to be open. Not talking to press means the President doesn't see you being defiant, and the President not perceiving you to fight his battles can't be good for your survival odds in his administration.

Hegseth comes across as such a moron when he's defending himself. I mean, the guy went to Princeton and Harvard, so I assume he's not a total idiot, and he's just playing one on TV, for an idiot audience of one. But the way he jumps around and screams is so pathetic. It's not like the guy isn't media trained.

Rubio also looks like a very pathetic, and yes, little man when he talks. And he's supposed to be one of the better ones.

And you believe that Princeton and Harvard educations mean anything? Almost all of this "administration" has at least one Ivy League degree attached to their resumes and NONE OF THEM are qualified for their positions! Makes me wonder what we're all working for...

The death spiral of a barely mediocre white man totally unqualified for his position. Sadly, he damaged the military and as a result made the US more vulnerable and less secure.

I think I read somewhere felon 47 was a great showman, too bad being president actually requires skills most whiny showmen don't have

all your commenters, including yourself (all too typical of pundits), focus on the wrong thing--of course he is unfit for such office. the critical thing is the man who wanted him and foisted him on a craven Republican Senate (Lisa Murkowski reveals the obvious truth)--Donald Trump. Trump. Trump. Trump is the issue. Please don't forget that!

And maybe he DONT survive…

Lord hear our prayer. Etc.

Pete Hegseth… (part time) defender of the realm, wears makeup, drinks in uniform, hates women, can’t be trusted with classified information….

Good bye Pete.

Maybe Fox News will hire him back.

Ok. Well. I’m sure if I thought about it I’d have something to say.

I’ve seen you in videos and it doesn’t LOOK like you’re wearing makeup.

That's because he's wearing makeup. If you go on TV without it, the lights and everything can be very unflattering.

It's insane, and will be another everlasting sign of traitorship to America that will go down in history, that Trump and company value more the political capital they spent on getting Hegseth nominated than they do competency, let alone excellence, in the role of Secretary of Defense.

Trump is so psychotically adverse to being wrong (showing weakness), being told what to do, listening to others, seen to be giving in, that he is the embodiment of the phrase "cut your nose off to spite your face".
