FACT: The 2026 election will be a referendum on Donald Trump — and, more broadly, Republicans in Congress.

Knowing this, Trump and the Republican leaders of the House and Senate are trying like hell to pass the “One Big Beautiful Bill” — the legislative vehicle that carries the vast majority of the president’s key agenda items.

The problem? The public has already made up its mind about the OBBB. And they don’t like it.

Which leaves Republicans in an absolutely terrible political predicament:

1. Pass a massive piece of legislation that the public doesn’t want

OR

2. Don’t pass the OBBB, derailing Trump’s priorities and allowing Democrats to label you a “do nothing” party in next year’s midterms.
