I think it'll be VERY hard for Harris to distance herself from Biden. Even a more gifted politician would struggle. She was his hand-picked successor, and like all modern VPs, she spent 4 years supporting everything he said or did. Any attempt to create distance NOW just looks like opportunism.

And I'm thinking of buying a pair of Lamborghinis in 2028, but....

"I also think that Democrats want to put the Biden years FAR behind them....". Funny, because a few years ago, I made a similar dangerous assumption about a former GOP prez.

She is running?

Rebranding her online media presence = she is definitely running? Come on man, this is just you wanting to talk about how bad a candidate you think she was, even tho she is not a candidate today, has not said she is running and we have not even had the midtetm election yet.

Jumping the gun much?

Chris Cillizza's avatar

She doesn't do something like this unless she wants to keep her name in the mix. And, yes, based on what I have seen and conversations I have had, I think she is likely to run.

So, people are saying?

She can't want to engage young people in getting engaged without running again?

Your headline is "She's running! She's running!" Now you say she is "likely to run"? Come on. Click bait much?

And please, the Biden admin in hindsight looks head and shoulders above what we have today. No daily egomaniac drama, no destruction of the WH and Kennedy Center, no federal agents shooting Americans while also disappearing them and even deporting them, no cruelty, no protecting pefophiles and child abusers, no US troops on our streets, more allies willing to have our backs, no being a pariah in all but the autocratic dictatorships of the world, no ignoring dozens of court orders, no failing to comply with laws. By 2028 Biden might be remembered as one of the greatest presidents ever, like no one has ever seen before.

Compared to the current train wreck the calm stability and progress of the Biden years are looking very good.

K Eck's avatar

Exactly, and it has only been one year! By 2028 the Biden admin will be fondly remembered imho

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

I can never wholly forgive him for attempting to run for re-election, but I think he was one of the most effective presidents in a generation or more.

Freddie's avatar

Biden passed laws! Trump signs Executive Orders.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Well, technically he got Congress to pass the laws. :)

Most of Trump's EO's can be quickly removed by the next president, hopefully using an autopen.

I don't understand your surprise at her wanting to stay in the game, maybe to draw in young voters, maybe to run. This is why we have primaries and elections to let them go through the process so that voters can choose the best candidate. No surprise there. She didn't have a great campaign in 2020 and 2024 was irregular to say the least. She will either realize she has no chance before putting her hat in the ring or after. Either way, who is it hurting if she tests the waters? I know you need something to write about. How about the battle for which states go first in the primary calendar? This is the real story. This probably shapes the race more than the candidates themselves. I vote for having 5 or 6 states all go on the same 1st day of primaries in order to get a balanced, representative mix. Also allows more voters to select from a wide slate of candidates before it gets whittled down. Amazing how a ton of states are literally left out of the primary process because it's effectively decided by the time they're up.

Let’s remember, Kamala had 3-4 months to campaign!!

The Repubs keep on alienating Hispanics, African Americans, and all other non-whites, young people, poor people, small business people, educated elites, teachers, Jews, LGBTQs, and 10-20% or more MAGA through extremism, terrorizing the whole country, etc...

Kamala has every right to show her colors and understanding of this country's time of darkness.

There will be a wonderful set of strong Democratic candidates to lead to the inevitable NEW DAY.

We will look at their programs to reincarnate our rights to live in freedom.

Why knock her down now - she like all of us are learning how best to resist and recover from these monsters....

Freddie's avatar

Thank you for your comment!

Kamala Harris is simply not very good at this.

She's failed upwards her entire career.

Freddie's avatar

Failed in her careers????

Nope, not gonna make the same mistake a third time. The goal in 2028 is to WIN. I strongly suspect that deeply ingrained mysogynistic attitudes will hamstring any woman running for the Presidency in 2028. I don’t like that reality. I don’t agree with it. I hope that someday We the People will rise above it, but is it worth the risk in this moment? If that risk represents even one or two percent of the electorate, it could put Trump or another MAGA extremist. Then, the tattered remnants of the Constituion will be shredded and flushed down one of the Golden Ballroom toilets.

She won't win the nomination. She'd have been better off running for Governor in California.

CAP's avatar

She, and her team, are delusional….

Rocket Master Man's avatar

I wish she didn't run.

But hold an election today and trumpf barely gets 120 electoral votes.

She warned about all of it.

But the price of eggs and trans kids peeing in the wrong bathroom, you know.

I think there are more important political news to cover than who is going to run in a race that is 2 yrs away.

Brent G. Doncaster's avatar

I think the phrase "keep your options open" applies here cuz:

1) yes it is a LONG way out in political years until 2028, and so you never know

2) as Chris will attest, running for President also carries potential white house opportunities for those candidates that are not the nominee, should the nominee win....

Lynn W Gardner's avatar

Oh please let her be the Democrat nominee…. With her at the top of the ticket even JD Vance could carry 40 states give or take one or two….

K Eck's avatar

Oh please, let JD be the Republic nominee.

He has zero credibility.

He spends his days in the White House replying to and arguing with comments to his lying online posts, what a resume!

Lynn W Gardner's avatar

Worry K Eck, I don’t think JD will be the nominee. VPs do not have a good track record, other then GHWB who was really just standing in for a Reagan third term. VPs have not done well. Look at Biden in 2016 he got pushed out because even Osama knew what a hollow suit he was. In 2020 he was about to go down against except the puppet masters in the Democrat party said there is no way we are going down with Bernie and his bros so they just put him in. So it has been three decades since a VP was a serious candidate so I think we are safe it will not be JD.

Buttigieg won the first primary in Iowa in 2020, not Sanders. Biden then won in SC and never looked back. He was not "put in".

Sorry you could not have been there to see what actually happened in our 2020 campaign in the USA, and instead just like to believe made-up nonesense.

Speaking of making up nonesemse, there was no 'Osama' who "pushed" Biden out in 2016. And don't pretend it is an accidental misspelling. Your juvenile name-calling has been posted here far too long to pretend that.

Right now, the online troll JD, or whatever name he will be going by in 2028, is all maga has to offer against the dems in 2028. And maga, which is the gop Republic party now, does not want anyone else. So, sorry, but your loser VP will be the ticket. And, no one else but maga wants him. And maga is not enough to win the presidential campaign in 2028 withoit all the youth, Hispanics, men of color, and independents that djt managed to get by mesmerizing with all his lies. Every single poll now shows all those groups are now firmly against maga. Good luck trying to win them back as this admin calls all of them violent criminals, and tries to deny them their rights guaranteed by the US Constitution.

Maz Siam's avatar

Why did you spell Obama's name Osama?

Lynn W Gardner's avatar

Oh K Erk, don’t forget Joe left Iowa and had his hat handed to him in NH which should have been a give me…. Also as you pointed it fruit loop won (barely) Iowa, now when in election history does the candidate with the most (at the time) drop out. The answer is never. Also within days a whole gaggle of want a be presidents dropped out. That my friend, says the puppet masters made the calls. And I would have thought even you with your blue colored blinders would have seen how Hussein Obama marginalized Joe for eight years. Gee it was all right there to be seen. Best, Lynn

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Is that you Dutch? You're certainly as clueless.

K Eck's avatar

Do you use juvenile name-calling for people because you are jealous of them and their accomplishments, like djt does?

Since you were not here to follow the 2020 US presidential election, I will let you in on a clue. The crowded field of dem candidates had one goal, to defeat djt. When Biden consolidated a lead, the rest did not want to challenge that and maybe divide the dems. It's called country before party or self. I know that is a concept that is hard for you to comprehend as no one in the maga party has ever displayed it or even given a hint of even knowing it is a positive, but oh well, maybe you will grow up one day and you will get it and could comprehend it then.

Dr. Chim Richalds's avatar

“Fruit loop”? What do you mean by that exactly?

Oh God, please. NO!!
