The 4th Republican debate is tonight. I am doing a live chat!

Misery loves company.

This morning, The Hill newspaper tweeted this:

To which I would say: Really? A “critical” debate?

Here are the facts:

1. Donald Trump is lapping the Republican field nationally — as well as in Iowa and New Hampshire

2. Donald Trump will not be at this debate

And that’s pretty much it. This debate, most accurately described, is a battle for the person who is likely going to finish a distant second to Trump in the fight for the nomination.

Those are the stakes (such as they are).

And yet, I am a political junkie. I love debates (even kids-table ones). And I am going to watch tonight. (The debate is on NewsNation from 8 pm to 10 pm eastern.)
