The 57 must-see lines from Donald Trump's Charlotte speech
Whoa boy.
Donald Trump spoke at a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday night — his first major speech since President Joe Biden announced he would not seek a 2nd term and Democrats quickly chose Vice President Kamala Harris as their de facto nominee.
Thanks to the amazing Listening Project, I got my hands on a transcript of the speech. I spent the morning going through it line by line — and pulling out the Trump quotes you need to see.

“And thank you to a place called North Carolina.”
“A place called North Carolina.” So good. And away we go!
“This is a nice arena. How about the people outside that can't get in? That's a lot of people, too.”
The Charlotte Observer said the crowd numbered in the “thousands.”
“He quit because he was losing so badly in the polls. He was down in every single poll and down by a lot, so he quit.”
This is not accurate. Biden wasn’t “down in every single poll and down by a lot.” That said, there is NO question that the polling trajectory of the race was NOT in Biden’s favor.
“But really, what happened was the leaders of the Democrat Party, in a very undemocratic move, The bosses, they said, either you get out or we're going to throw you out using the 25th Amendment. That's what happened.”
[narrator voice] That’s not what happened. No one in Democratic leadership even mention invoking the 25th Amendment.
“You know that. So, what — well, you know that. That's what happens.”
“Lyin’ — Kamala Harris. Lyin’. L-Y-I-N, apostrophe.”
“Apostrophe.”
“By the way, they did a poll. She was rated the worst vice president in history.
I've never seen that poll before, but that's the poll.”
So, I think the poll Trump is referring to is this one from NBC in June 2023. But it doesn’t say Harris is the worst vice president in history. It says that she has the lowest approval rating of any vice president in the history of the poll.
“[Harris] is a radical-left lunatic who will destroy our country.”
Trump really heeding his own calls for unity here!
“You know, I was supposed to be nice. They say something happened to me when I got shot. I became nice.”
Literally no one said that.
“So, if you don't mind, I'm not going to be nice. Is that okay? I'm not going to.”
