Eleven years ago, I came up with an idea: To make a list of the best political reporters in every state.

It was one of my favorite things that I did when I was at Washington Post. Not only did it shine a light on a lot of up and coming reporters — many of whom have gone on to big things! — but it also served as a terrific resource for readers.

With just over seven weeks (50 days!) left before the 2024 election, I wanted to do something similar — a guide to the best political reporters in all 7 swing states.

The Greg Bluesteins. The Jon Ralstons. But also some reporters you may not have heard of — but need to know. The list has more than 50(!) great reporters and writers on it!

Below you’ll find it. It’s the result of my own years of following these reporters, recommendations from politicos and lots of ideas from my social media feeds.
