So:

Less than one week after President Donald Trump was handing Elon Musk a literal key to Washington, the two men went to war in the most 21st century way possible: Over social media.

Musk continued to his assault on Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill on Thursday. Trump threatened to remove all of the government contracts for Elon’s businesses. Elon suggested Trump should be impeached.

And then, this:

HOLY SHIT. (That is a technical term.)

There is a WHOLE back story here, which I will briefly summarize.

Jeffrey Epstein was a wealthy man-about-town. He ran in elite circles. And then in 2019 he was arrested for the alleged sexual exploitation of hundreds of very young women and even some girls — on an island that he owned. He died by suicide in jail less than a year later.

Conservatives have long pushed conspiracy theories that Epstein was murdered because he knew too much about high-profile Democrats and liberals who were allegedly involved in his exploitation of girls. (Even the Trump DOJ has said Epstein did, in fact, commit suicide.)

What we know is that both Bill Clinton and Donald Trump flew on Epstein’s private plane. In fact, we know that between 1993-1997, Trump used the Epstein plane eight times. What there is NO proof of is that Clinton or Trump were aware of Epstein’s behavior or, far worse, participated in it. Both men have denied any knowledge or involvement.

What else do we know? In a 2002 New York magazine profile of Epstein, Trump acknowledged he and Epstein were friends. “I’ve known Jeff [Epstein] for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Trump said at the time. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

👀

Back in February, Trump Attorney General Pam Bondi announced — to much fanfare — that she was going to release all of the information that had been gathered about Epstein and his associates, naming names etc.

And then, not much. It was sort of like Geraldo Rivera breaking into Al Capone’s vault. The White House brought prominent MAGA-aligned media personalities in and made a big show of giving them binders with the Epstein information. But, there was nothing new there.

Even people like Megyn Kelly said that it was a “disaster,” adding: “They embarrassed themselves, and it seems like a totally unnecessary thing. They stepped on a rake for no apparent reason.”

Bondi quickly insisted that there was, in fact, MUCH more to come — and that it would be released in short order. That was at the end of February.

Last month, New York Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman, one of the leading voices on releasing all the Epstein information, blasted Bondi for the slow-walking of the rest of the files.

“In February, [Bondi] promised she’d release the full Epstein Files immediately,” Goldman wrote on X. “74 days later, she hasn’t released them or explained why. People are asking if she’s covering for Trump? I’m demanding answers to determine if she's betraying her promise at Trump's direction.”

Which, in light of Musk’s tweet, looks very, very prescient.

Now, before we go too far down that road, it’s worth remembering that Musk is an utterly unreliable narrator. He has used his X feed to promote all sorts of baseless conspiracy theories. This could be just another one.

But what Musk’s tweet will do is amp up the pressure on Bondi to release everything related to Epstein. And fast. Get ready.
