The hidden 2024 message in Joe Biden's secret trip to Ukraine
It's the age thing, stupid.
Two things are indisputably true about Joe Biden:
The age issue (he’s 80) is very real for voters. And it’s not going away.
He’s very much planning on running for 2nd presidential term in 2024.
Everything he does (and doesn’t do) between now and November 2024 have to be seen through those twin lenses. Those two imperatives are ever-present on the minds of both he and his advisors.
Which brings me to the secret trip Biden made to Ukraine on Presidents Day to show support for that country’s ongoing fight against the Russian incursion.
The optics for Biden were, of course, great. A president of the United States, unafraid, in a war zone. Standing up for the little guy in a battle with a big bully. Demonstrating the U.S.’s unflinching support for Ukraine.
But, there was more at work here — as evidenced by how quickly a series of media stories about how Biden pulled the trip off popped up.
