I am headed to bed as I don’t expect the presidential race to be called tonight as the counting in Georgia and Pennsylvania has slowed considerably.
Here’s where we are: Donald Trump is very likely to be the next president of the United States. My guess is that the next state to fall his way is Georgia. And, if that happens, then all he needs is Pennsylvania to win. And right now all of the credible projections I have seen suggest Trump is favored to win Pennsylvania — although it’s not a sure thing.
Trump is also ahead — albeit narrowly — in Michigan and Wisconsin. He’s also ahead, very narrowly, in Arizona.
As of 12:20 am Wednesday morning, the New York Times Needle, a projection tool, gives Trump a 90% chance of winning the White House.
Could it be wrong? I suppose. But I see no reason to think it is.
Harris’ only path now is winning the Blue Wall states — all three of them. Without that, she is almost certain to come up short.
In the Senate, Republicans will control the majority. The only question is how many seats they will control.
With the wins in West Virginia and Ohio, Republicans are +2 on the night. And all three Democratic chances — in Nebraska, Texas and Florida — fizzled as Republicans won each of them.
At the moment, Republicans are leading in Senate races in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. In Arizona, Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego is beating Kari Lake. There are no voted in yet in Nevada.
My best guess is that Republicans get 54-ish Senate seats when all is said and done.
The House appears to be the only bright spot for Democrats at the moment. According to a Decision Desk HQ projection made just before midnight, Democrats have a 62% chance of winning back the House majority.
I’ll be back tomorrow morning with another update. But, to be clear: This looks like a very good night for Republicans — from Trump on down.
Un fucking believable. This elite, coastal, out-of-touch, college-educated liberal is in shock…AGAIN! What the hell happened?
Biden was right. They ARE garbage. We may be witnessing the end of the American experiment.
