I agree that the people who supported him and voted for him are the bigger problem - because he will shortly leave the stage but their ignorance, rancor and cruelty will still abound in the US.

combined with the much enriched and empowered filthy rich and mega corporations.

I wondered how long it was going to take him to release a foul, deranged and cruel post about Rob Reiner. It didn’t take long, and it didn’t disappoint. I can’t believe we have to be tortured by this sick, evil lunatic for another 3 years.

Thanks Chris. You nailed this one.

MAGA will be completely fine with Trump's response, but they were livid after Charlie Kirk's death if anybody even dared to suggest that Charlie was not a saint. And look at how many people lost their jobs for posting something about Charlie. Can we get Trump fired too for HIS lack of empathy? JFC.

When Harry Met Sally is one of my favorite movies of all time, that movie means the world to me.

From 1984 to 1995, Rob Reiner directed This is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men and The American President.

That's an insane run.

I'm focusing on that rather than whatever bile our "leader" chose to spew.

My book on romantic comedies, "I'll Have What She's Having," has a chapter on "When Harry Met Sally."

Very interested in this book!

P.S. At ate Katz' Deli a few years back with my entire family, and got to sit at the famous table where Rob Reiner's mother uttered her famous line. To the great embarrassment of my kids, I stood up halfway through the meal, pointed to my wife's meal, and announced, "I'll have what she's having!". The reaction was mixed--laughter by those around us, looks of shame and horror on the face of my kids.............

I've been there. Got the t-shirt. :)

I'll have to add this to my queue

The Princess Bride remains one of my favourite movies of all time.

Pretty sure that Rob Reiner also directed Sleepless in Seattle.

That was Nora Ephron, but he's in it.

The Bucket List is schmaltzy af but it's so sweet.

Yup, you're right. I got my RomComs confused!

Please add The Sure Thing to the Rob Reiner great movies list. It is so under rated, but one of my favorite collaborations from two of my favorites - Rob Reiner and John Cusack

Sam's avatar

I don't believe I've seen that

It was the film he did after "This is Spinal Tap." It's charming.

BTW, his final film, the "Spinal Tap" sequel, is currently available on Demand.

Sam's avatar

I wasn’t going to see it, but I might have to add it to my queue to pay tribute.

It's a reunion film. Can't compare to the original, but enjoyable on its own.

Hypocrisy reigns supreme in Trump's orbit. People got fired/suspended for a lot less regarding comments about Charlie Kirk, many times at the request of this dumpster fire of a human.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

That was my reaction. Where are those people now who railed at anyone who didn't immediately declare sainthood for Kirk?

Only a sick twisted fuck like DJT would make this terrible horrible comment on this tragedy. Everything is always about him. He's disgusting.

The real problem are the people who voted for Trump, especially the third time. They are far worse than Trump. Shun and isolate until they pass.

Trump made it all about himself again.

Trump consistently lowers the bar for civility and decency.

Ww knew this the minute he walked down the golden Trump Tower stairs in 2015 and blamed Mexican and South American immigrants for everything bad in the USA.

We knew it the first time he placed doubt on where Obama was born.

We knew this the moment the Federal government sued him and his father for illegal rental racial discrimination practices.

We knew this the minute he took out a full page ad in the NY Times calling for the execution of the young black men accused of rape, only to have them exonerated.

We knew this this weekend when he was told about the killing at Brown University and he said (again), " That happens".

We all knew this and yet he still got elected.

The biggest shock is the amount of American think this is the finest man to run our country.

This is a mountain in the sense that someone with this lack of moral character should not be President - or hold any public office, for that matter.

I can’t think of any living person as self centered and venal as Trump.

A malignant narcissist, who also happens to be a sociopath/ psychopath will never feel anything…never mind being “classless”.

The son who suffered and was trortured by drugs most of his life is the prime suspect. But you are right that does not matter.

This is a new low....even for him.

I am not surprised, but I am sickened by this. No low is too low, as this proves.
