Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was ordered Friday to pay almost $150 million for defaming two Georgia election workers with false claims about voter fraud.

My first thought on hearing the news was that Rick Wilson was (and is) right. Wilson, a GOP consultant turned Never Trumper, wrote a book in 2018 called “Everything Trump Touches Dies.”

The idea — which is sort of evident from the title — is that everyone who comes into Trump’s orbit winds up being reduced. In major ways.

Giuliani is perhaps the best example of this phenomenon.
