First things first: I will miss watching tonight’s 3rd Republican presidential debate live. I have a potential future opportunity/job thing that I HAVE to do tonight.
So, that means no live chat with paid subscribers. I know, I know.
My plan is to watch the debate — in full — tomorrow morning(ish) and have some thoughts about it in this space by midday (or a little later).
Thanks for understanding.
While I’m here, I wanted to update you on the “So What” community we are all building together.
As of this afternoon, we are nearing 8,500 total subscribers. Of that number, approximately 1,400 of you are paid subscribers.
To me, that’s pretty incredible. I’ve only been doing this for 10 months and haven’t advertised it or pushed it in any meaningful way beyond word-of-mouth recommendations.
My goal, however, is much bigger. I think the analysis I am doing is pretty damn good! And I want more people to know about it! And subscribe to it!
I want to see if we can get this community to 10,000 subscribers (and 1,750 paid subscribers) by the end of the year.
And I want to do my part. So, in honor of the fact that the 2024 election is now only 363(!) days away, I am offering 20% off to people who subscribe now! It’s the first time I’ve discounted the subscription — so take advantage! It’s easy — just click here:
Why should you be a paid subscriber? Well, for one, you support the journalism I have been and will continue to do here. Second, because as I near the one-year mark of this newsletter I am contemplating a few changes that are not limited to but will include:
Only paid subscribers can comment on posts
More audio content — including me reading posts — for paid subscribers
More video-only posts for paid subscribers
Monthly Zoom chat for paid subscribers
And, again, let me remind you that by subscribing you aren’t giving you money to some huge media conglomerate that will do who knows what with it. You are directly investing in me and what I am trying to build here.
I hope you take the leap. And, if you already are a paid subscriber (or a free one!), I would really appreciate if you would tell a friend (or friends!) about this newsletter and community.
A final word: Thank you for your support. Whether you have been a paid subscriber since day 1 or just decided to invest today, I am very appreciative of your vote of confidence in me. I promise to do my best to bring you the very best political analysis (and some personal stuff too!) in the coming weeks and months.
Chris,
Best of luck tonight. We will miss you and all the wonderful commentary from the community you've built. I'll do my part and sing the praises. Pro Tip - even if it's a Zoom interview, wear pants.
Lou
Chris, two things:
1) fingers crossed for the job possibility 🤞🏼
2) Thank @Jonathon V. Last @TheBulwark for me subscribing. It was because JVL recommended your stack that I forked up the paid sub!
And as usual, JVL was right.
