Why I don't hate CNN

I was on Twitter X the other day and saw that some conservatives were suggesting that Anderson Cooper taking a shot (of some sort of alcohol) while on air during the network’s New Year’s Eve coverage was a sign of the decline of CNN (and civilization more broadly).

To which I responded: “Oh yes, this is the thing that really typifies that decline.” I mean, seriously.

And then, to be honest, I didn’t think any more about it. (I am trying not to spend too much time on X these days.)

But as I was waiting to pick my son up from basketball practice on Tuesday, I was scrolling on my phone ( I know…) and came across this response to my tweet:

Which, I get.

CNN laid me off. They chose to get rid of me. Maybe it would seem natural to hate them — or at least not want to defend them.

But, I don’t feel that way. Not at all.
