I feel the same as I did with Feinstein. The public does need to know. The most interesting aspect is the neurology team. If true (I’m assuming), it would seem most likely McConnell’s problems are concussion-related and that he is recovering. It tells me that this is likely not related to TIA/stroke or similar. But a neurology team could mean other things as well, such as dementia/Alzheimer's.
And yeah, we know Trump would be brutal, calling him McCripple or something like that.
“The letter, um, leaves a whole lot more questions than it answers. Especially given that the Senate Minority Leader had his second episode of freezing — literally standing there unable to talk — in as many months on Wednesday.”
I wonder if the same doctor who wrote that Trump is healthier than most 20 year olds, and is so fit and healthy, he should easily live to 150, wrote McDonnell’s note as well. It’s a legitimate question, isn’t it?
My father fell and suffered from a concussion at 73, and never fully recovered. He died a few years later, but cognitive abilities dissipated quickly after the fall.
I wish McConnell a speedy recovery, even though I don’t agree with his politics at all.
My wife watched the video several times. She thought he looked like he knew there was a big problem and it must be heartbreaking to know that your body is failing you, and in such a public manner. It is so sad to see what is happening to him and Senator Feinstein.
Let's all be careful what we wish for. On the one hand we have a very obviously impared Senate Minority Leader. On the other hand, hoping that he stands aside and the Democrats pick up his Senate seat (in Kentucky???), is a pipe dream. This is a slow-mo retelling of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", IMHO. There are MAGAts hovering, who will gladly bury the knife, should this happen again, not to mention the #2 & #3 Senators on that side of the aisle. "Et tu, Brutus?" Anything to get rid of McConnell, because he hasn't quite bent the knee to TFG.
We all remember the bombast that McConnell had back in the day when he wanted to make Barak Obama a one-term president, and when he lorded over the Senate to prevent Merrick Garland to even get a hearting, and then rushing through the nomination and approval of Coney-Barret. And even on the floor of the Senate when he castigated Trump for Jan. 6th.
I went back to watched both pressers in which he froze. Even if those "brain-freezes" didn't occur, McConnell seems to be at half-strength when answering questions posed to him. His uptake is slow, his acuity seems fogged, and it seems he's brought out to prove he's "hail and hearty."
It's obvious he is neither.
Yet arrogance wins out over occasional brain-freezes.
I had a concussion back in 2015 followed by severe headaches for 4 months (post-concussive syndrome). I had *pain*, trouble concentrating, trouble with bright lights, trouble with loud noises . . .
I could still function, after a fashion, if I took frequent breaks. I couldn't concentrate enough to edit entire books (my job). But I could walk, drive, etc.
I didn't, notably, freeze up or stare into space. I would have expected McConnell to need to rest frequently from the concussion or to need less time on various screens. There's something else going on here.
Before we shuffle McConnell off the stage, consider this; better the devil we know than the one waiting in the wings. Let’s see how the Republican Presidential Primary shakes out.
And, remember, there is a budget that needs passing. There are troglodytes in the House who would gleefully crash the Republic. For all his myriad sins and betrayals, McConnell doesn’t want to burn down the Republic.
He does want it hamstrung.
With a true majority, President Biden can stem that tide. Taking back the House will relegate the troglodytes to the swamps.
That memo is a joke. I think the nation (since he's a powerful force in the Senate and the Republican party) as well as the voters of Kentucky deserve some sort of answer. I understand he wants to keep things private, no one needs to know the full diagnosis and prognosis but SOMETHING should be revealed even if it's just that he is still recovering from the concussion and this is to be expected in someone of his age and overall health with the sort of responsibilities and stresses in his life, meaning he might skip a meal and get lightheaded or forget to drink enough water or get enough sleep. That's still would be probably BS but at least it's more in depth and believable BS.
Anyone else getting West Wing vibes when Bartlett was concealing MS?
Always more questions than answers. The American people deserve to know the health of our elected officials, especially when symptoms are occurring in public. I understand privacy and not every single detail needs to be put out there. However, it should be said in public that Senator McConnell is still having affects from his concussion, or he has Parkinson’s but able to do his job. Something. We pay these people their salary and it would be nice to have a clue as to their health. Feinstein is another one, more questions than answers. I don’t like the man, don’t like his politics, with that being said, I don’t wish him any ill will.
I agree something besides dizzyness. I have been caregiver for 49 years to Father-Parkinsons; Best friend of 42 yrs -Cancer; Mother-list too long and now to husband who had mini stroke in November 2022. I myself suffer modate vertigo. The look on his Sentors face shows he knows its bad. The fear; blankness. Agree on his privacy butche needsxto share a bit more.

Agreed on all points.

I believe the guy who wrote Trump’s note is dead, for what it’s worth.
I know, I was being sarcastic...:)

Robert Jaffee: "It’s a legitimate question, isn’t it?"
One to which we already have the answer -- "No"

Yes, sadly, better the devil we know than the one waiting in the wings.
Trump is 6'1" and 215lbs.
McConnell is clear to return to work.
Duh, okay.
Excellent points, Chris.
Here's an add-on the following.

The primaries are close.
