No, no, I swear! Sorry about that, I’m mocking them, not you, but I’m serious about wanting to be updated. I crave the serious writing, but the Greene/Boebert fooferaw is one of the few things bringing me automatic pleasure these days.
I like these updates partly for the petty enjoyment, but also for the confirmation that no matter how cynical I am about the MAGA wing of the GOP, even my most cynical assessment is less harsh than it could be.
There’s an obvious deep lack of intellectual seriousness about them, and the comical aspect of this birdbrain feud is that they’re not even self-aware enough to realize how childish their public behavior is. It feels more revealing than even their most absurd official statements.
I had no idea of this type of competition between the two. Regarding Trump, it has been said that he ran his 4 years in the White House, and his subsequent behavior, in the style and language of a pro wrestling match (get 'em angry, say something outrageous, to keep the attention of the masses). I can SO picture Greene and Boebert in the ring, wrestling away...same style as Trump.
Even sadder than that, your statement here is right on target: "Both Greene and Boebert are part of a new era of Republican politicians — those who measure their successes based on how many Fox News appearances they get as opposed to how many bills they pass."
Their relationship would have been so wonderfully choreographed on "Celebrity Deathmatch," the claymation cable show of celebrities literally tearing each other apart using various devices.
Excellent analysis, Chris. Your bottom-line seems to be that Madge and Bobo certainly fit the 21st-century expression of being "frenemies".
[Aside query, C.C. - how are they any different from the other Right-Wing Nuts in their disinclination for developing legislation to help the populi?]
Two points...the first is sexist-ish (sort of like Jew-ish) the second is two-part observational.
1. Madge and Bobo carry themselves like "Friday Night Gals."
Last century, when guys had a steady girlfriend for Saturday Night dates, there were the Friday Night bimbos for fun during a night out with the boys.
2.a. Madge:
Although batshit crazy, racist, and anti-semetic (although she does claim to have a "Jew as a friend"), Madge is extremely intense in her dedication to physical challenge competions, in deceiving her constituents, and vociferously against anyone not to the right of Trump.
Intellectually, there seems to be some there there, it is just misdirected to salve her ego and pad her net worth.
2.b. Bobo:
It is difficult to determine if she is ignorant or stupid. Perhaps those traits are not mutually exclusive in her case.
Where Madge's prejudices seem to be thought-out, Bobo seems to stumble into hers accidentally.
She does have that Trump-like reptilian instinct for survival, crafting the use of her "charms" during her experience in bar-ownership and raising political campaign funds. (check out pictures of her attire when she's upcountry with the men folk at Rotary Clubs and saloons.)
She doesn't seem to know or care that she's supposed to "bring pork" back to her district.
‐‐‐‐
That said, their commonality is their unbridled desire for attention, evidenced by their double-teaming of Uncle Joe at the SOTU address. Their act was classic...which one could outdo the other on classlessness.
One can respect a competitor, but still want to see, or create, a faceplant. This seems to be their raison d'etre.
Can’t tolerate either one of them. I have a hard time believing that they were actually elected to congress. Seriously. Another sorry tale of where we are in this country,
That Boebert was in such a serious race in a district that shouldn't be competitive is telling though. She hasn't moderated one but so it will be interesting to see how her 2024 race turns out.
"And believers in the false conspiracy theory that Trump won the election."
I'm not sure why you would say they believe this, especially when:
"Both Greene and Boebert are part of a new era of Republican politicians — those who measure their successes based on how many Fox News appearances they get ..."
In general I dislike describing claims that people (especially politicians) "believe" something as it basically requires someone to be a mind reader. Rather is seems more appropriate to say people "embrace" or "claim" something.
But Michael, can't we connect the word-salad they spew with a philosophical belief, or at least the belief that the more Ding-Of-Bat they sound, the greater the chance of TV facetime?
Chris called them " the two conservative firebrands." It seems likely they both may be very stupid. It seems equally obvious they both may be very dishonest. But "conservative?" Many decades ago I grew up and lived in Jerry Ford country in Western Michigan. I knew the congressman who became president. Jerry Ford was a conservative. He also was honest and, assuredly, not stupid. I didn't much like Jerry's politics but I liked Jerry, the person, a lot. To those of us of advanced years and civilized politics, there were real political conservatives in those days. The "gentle lady" from Georgia and the "gentle lady" from Colorado do not fit that description. Well, they are not "gentle" or "ladies," either.
There is surely a law of physics which says that when two very awful and unpleasant phenomena collide, a brand new element is created as a consequence.
Schadenfreude is the air I breath.
Ha!
OMG, Chris, you HAVE to keep writing about this topic. Please, I’m on my hands and knees begging you to keep us updated.
Are you mocking me ;)
No, no, I swear! Sorry about that, I’m mocking them, not you, but I’m serious about wanting to be updated. I crave the serious writing, but the Greene/Boebert fooferaw is one of the few things bringing me automatic pleasure these days.
I can’t resist. Their relationship (or lack thereof) is utterly fascinating to me.

They should have their own show on Bravo.
People would watch.
Meanwhile, as they rip each to shreds the real governor of Arizona is living at Mar a Lago. 🍿
Is she playing a few holes?
Going for that coveted heartbeat away from authoritarian ruler role.
Indeed.
I realize Trump gets to choose, but at least with the Sycophant-In-Chief last time there was a semblance of sanity.
Sanity is so 2016.
Truly LOLOL!!
Don’t cry for me, Arizona.

How low can you go? There is no bottom...
Their relationship would have been so wonderfully choreographed on "Celebrity Deathmatch," the claymation cable show of celebrities literally tearing each other apart using various devices.
Great fight between “two awful cats”, destruction usually come from the inside!!
True. A house divided cannot and will not stand.
George Santos will be the referee of this one.

Very true. She may flame out but won’t hold my breath.

You may agree or not agree.
Fair point. Probably better to say they "embrace" the conspiracy theory that Donald Trump won the election.
Tinfoil hats are de rigueur.

Scary to consider that creation, Martin...sort of like the three-eyed fish living near the Springfield Nuclear Plant.
Mystery to me how they continue to be re-elected. They are childish, bombastic, and without depth.
Good lord. RIP GOP.
