As a paid subscriber, I am delighted that you’ll keep a good bit of your content available for free. There are lots of folks in these weird times who simply cannot afford to subscribe, but who really want an independent source for information and opinion. Have you thought about maybe once a week having an “open forum” in which anyone, paid or not, could comment? It would invite some trolls for sure , but would also bring in some interesting voices, I think.
I subscribed because I’m tired of corporate media. I applaud you for reporting what we all need to hear and not what we want to hear. The system is broken, EM & Trump are tearing it apart. I’d be happy if Democrats would at least acknowledge that the system is in dire need of a fix but that the bulldozer approach is not the way to do it. At least then, the folks who have been trying to tell politicians for years that things need to change, might think they are being heard. Trump talks their language but lies to them. I’m just trying to be heard as well.
Lois, I had a super fun chat with a friend of mine over coffee today. She wants those who are on welfare who are able to to work and feels that undocumented immigrants who’ve committed serious crimes should be deported. So, you’re a Republican? I asked. No way would I vote for that monster Trump, she said. Interesting times for Democrats in a very purple district.
I hope it all works out for you. I really appreciate your insights and will continue to be a paid subscriber. Every once in awhile I share the free contents with folks I know could afford to subscribe in hopes that they will.
I like this. All these meet needs of all your listeners. Thank you for being the person you are. This is what drew me to follow you on CNN and find out on Substack. 😊
I am begrudgingly and belatedly (hopefully not TOO late) coming around to accepting your strike zone as fair if not always what I want to hear. We need to operate in the center again, even if that means center right to me.
I love reading what you write since 2006. I can't become a founding member, but your written posts plus your podcast with Chuck Todd are what make So What worth my monthly subscription!
Pierce trivia. He memorized his inaugural speech. Let’s see Trump do that
Maybe a Franklin Pierce day is the way to go. When I was growing up we celebrated Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays separately don’t they still deserve that
I guess Chris doesn’t celebrate Festivus. Airing of grievances and insults are pretty close
Founding member suggestion: could you offer a guarantee that the founding members Thursday question will be addressed, no matter how silly the question is? (well, within reason...!)
loled at the Franklin Pierce bit. underrated heartthrob

Chris- Giving out your personal cell is a major testament to what you are trying to build here. Very very cool.

Becoming a founding member is a bit rich for my blood, but I'm happy to continue to be a paying supporter of "So What"!

Seems fair and reasonable. I don't know how you are going to get all those Zoom calls scheduled.
Chris. I’d like to book our zoom call. Have been a subscriber for some time and would love to chat. Thanks!

Chris’ dry humor is coming out

Add to the the list of “What I’m not”:
- Someone who votes
Thanks for caring!
I am hoping that your weekly "chats" with Chuck Todd will also be a part of the new structure
