I see some who put forth the opinion that DeSantis and Trump are equally apt to become American Mussolini. Obviously no one knows.

The good thing about Trump is that he’s got at least some chance of being incarcerated soon and/or being called Home to, presumably according to his followers, sit at the right hand of God.

DeSantis’ advantage is having the winning personality of a turnip. I can’t imagine what sort of cult he’d inspire.

Having changed my registration to Republican in hopes of helping the country and my district be free of Elise Stefanik, I’ll get to vote in the GOP presidential primary, too. Not that it matters by the time it reaches NY.

As of now, Asa Hutchinson seems like the least disgusting choice. Or maybe go with the Elizabeth Cheney write-in.

Kevin, I am very confident that the "right hand of God" gig is already taken. However, I know of another locale that Trump might easily access and sit at the proprietor's right hand.

It’s another thing Trump will go after DeSantis about. It’s all about winning to Trump. However, DeSantis may totally surprise us and come out of the gate with guns a blazing. Doubtful, but there is that small chance. With that being said, DeSantis is being set up to fail. I will never vote for a republican again, however, if I were to it would be Asa Hutchinson at this point. I was an independent until Trump and went to the Democratic Party to be able to vote in the primaries.

I think the Jacksonville loss is really bad for him, but it sounds like Kentucky was him doing the bare minimum to tap into a fortune that could help him in the primaries. I think he knew Craft was a dead duck.

This does not seem like much of a deal to me. Trump lost the presidency (even if he claims it was stolen) and has underperformed in 2018 and 2022 midterms. He led the GOP to the loss of the Senate, lost the House and barely retook it in 2022. Two races compared against Trumps is not much.

On the debate stage, if I was DeSantis, I would point to the fact that Trump is old, a loser and pays women off for sex. Trump can try to sling mud back (and he will) but once DeSantis goes hard after Trump, he can really weaken him.

Also impeached twice ,and an insurrectionist and conspired to overturn a free and fair election. DeSantis has a lot to work with to win this primary. Whether he uses these materials is another issue. Let's hope he uses them. If he doesn't use them, you can be sure Biden and his super packs will .

DeSantis is absolutely correct. Republicans have lost three national elections consecutively with Trump. 2018, 2020 and 2022. DeSantis endorsed 2 candidates and they both lost. One lost to a Republican opponent and the other to a Democratic opponent. Now how many Trump endorsed candidates lost to fellow Republicans and how many of his endorsed candidates lost to Democratic candidates? A lot. Too numerous to count. I don't see this as a negative for DeSantis And don't forget that McConnell who actually is from Kentucky also blessed Daniel Cameron's candidacy in Kentucky.

I see what you mean. Cameron's name is prolly 'Denial'....

BTW, play this out. DeSantis is on stage with Trump. He calls him out for losing the election. Trump says "no it was stolen" DeSantis fires back "no, that is not true. The American people deserve to be told the truth. and to quote Col Jessep 'You can't handle the truth' You lost to Biden, and because of that loss, we are dealing with this mess he made. If given the chance, you will lose again, and how bad off will we be in 4 more years? Think about that."
