🎤 Ask Me Anything! 🤔
Questions?
I left legacy media to build something different: independent, honest political analysis that isn’t owned by corporations or parties.
I call balls and strikes—no matter who’s at bat—because what’s missing right now are referees, not cheerleaders ⚾.
If you want clear, concise takes that cut through the noise (without the cable-news theatrics), this is the newsletter for you 🎯.
Subscribe if you believe politics is better when someone just tells you what actually matters rather than just what you want to hear 🧠.
I’m in New York City for the day at Substack’s “The Once and Future Media Forum” — a gathering of independent creators where we share best practices and (hopefully) wisdom!
It’s been great. So far I have heard from Tim Miller, Pablo Torre, Emily Sundberg and Dylan and Ben Sinclair.
Anyway, as I am taking notes and learning and asking questions, I figured I would do the same here!
While I normally only take questions from paid subscribers for my “Friday Mailbag” post, this week I am opening it up for ANYONE who wants to ask a question!
So, have at it. I will answer as many questions as I can in the Mailbag tomorrow.
Put all your questions — about whatever you want! — in the comments section below!

Chris- How concerned are you that Trump has permanently turned the DOJ into the President's personal law firm going forward? Do you see Republican administrations operating it similar to Trump or do you see the next President trying to establish the DOJ's independence again? The latest criminal investigation into Jean E Carroll is further proof the current DOJ does what Trump wants to his perceived enemies.
I'm sort of surprised that Gretchen Whitmer decided not to run for President. (I guess it's been clear for a while now, but she initially seemed like a potentially strong candidate.) I know she took some flack for a White House appearance, but that doesn't seem like enough to undermine her candidacy. So why did she decide not to run?
