At one time character mattered to Republicans or at least they said it did. Maybe they should’ve stuck with that.

The party needs to come together as one and say Trump lost. He owns them until they quit participating in the Big Lie. Does Christie even say Trump lost?

Former Governor Christie's comments were and are laughable. I don't know what else there is to say.

Christie just wants his name out there. He's not worth the oxygen

Born and raised in NJ, moved out of the state 2 years ago, Christie was Governor while we lived in NJ. The whole bridge gate scandal, sitting on the beach when beaches were closed, etc. He’s gone from someone who was a somewhat decent politician to a laughing stock. One can not change or rewrite history, it seems to be the Republican way these days. He may have salvaged something of himself, if in 2016 when he dropped out, did not endorse Trump. We all knew what sort of president Trump would be and Christie claims he didn’t know???? OMG.

Not to defend Christie, but he has a real gripe against Trump. Christie was involved in debate prep with Trump in 2020 and was not told that Trump had tested positive for COVID. Christie subsequently became ill and ended up in intensive care. He was very much at risk. While hospitalized Trump called him not to see how he was faring, but to make sure he wouldn't publicly blame Trump for getting sick.

Yeah, I might rewrite the history of such a relationship after that.

What was the story behind the famous Christie in the background of the press briefing gif?

Unfortunately, now someone like Chris Christy is the crème de la crème of Republicans, as he has finally dumped Dangerous Don. When the bar is this low, the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz would qualify for Mensa.

Christi is cringeworthy.

While Christie has tepidly come out against Trump, the fact that Trumps lies and obfuscations with not making his COVID status known, lliterally almost killed him make his current opinion and opposition of Trump lame at best.

I remember watching a town hall with Christie talking about his friends fight, and ultimate loss to, opioid addiction. Before that I thought he was kind of a blow hard and didn't have a whole lot of respect for him. But, I remember thinking, "Wow, he gets it.". There seemed to be a real person there who could empathize and actually use his position to make things better for people.

But, like everyone who gets in Trump's orbit, Christie succumbed to his own political avarice and ambition thinking Trump's "magic" with his followers would rub off on him. What has proved true with Christie, and what will prove with DeSantis and all others who have had this same misguided hope, is that it's a cult of personality and it only has loyalty one Messiah.

Christie, along with all the others wanting to take Trump's place, needs to unequivocally with unrelenting day in and day out force speak to just how truly awful Trump is and will be if he gets another term. None of this, "While I agree with his policies but...." mealy mouthed opposition. If one is willing to take him head-on Trump will continue to be, not just the likely nominee but, the Republican party itself. Why this hasn't happened yet after a string of electoral losses and the awfulness of Trump's 4 years culminating with January 6th is a mystery to me.
