I remember when Rubio gave the Republican response. It didn’t go well. Last time it was Sarah Huckabee Sanders. That also didn’t go well. The more we see some people the less we like them.

I don't know how much power Trump has on the Republican Senators. Even in the House, remember Jim Jordan was his (Trump )endorsed candidate but he lost several times and failed to become the House leader.

You may be right that Britt being selected for the SOTU response has VP implications. It shouldn’t be surprising that she’s on the short list. But it think it’s equally or more likely that party leadership thinks that a woman from Alabama may help neutralize the IVF mess the GOP stepped in.

Seems like the stars are aligning. I commented on your last VP post that the choice would be a woman who can tackle the post-Roe debacle. If she can pass just a few crucial "interviews" she might be the one. In the end, it will be a woman.
