Two things can be true at once. She can be proud of the accomplishments of the Biden Administration - one of the most productive in modern history. He inherited a mess (not to put too fine a point on it), and dealt with most of it. And she can, and is, proud of the man she served with — Biden is a warm, empathic, caring person - adjectives no one would ever apply to Cheeto Head. AND she can also be ready to chart a new and different path.
So Harris will lose if she doesn’t break from Biden but Trump won’t lose after demonstrating: a) he is a full blown fascist who would use the US Military to arrest and possibly execute his political opponents and B) he is entering a stage of dementia where nobody should be given the keys to the car much less the keys to the country? Noted
What Chris didn’t point out this time, but I believe has said before (if memory serves me…), is Harris has to “walk a tightrope” in regards to her participation in the decision-making of the Biden-Harris administration’s policies and policy successes. To his point, people don’t like Biden so much, and even though the economy is doing *extremely* well, they are under the impression that we’re going in “the wrong direction”, as a nation.
That said, by ALL objective measures, the economy is ABSOLUTELY going in the “right direction”, and she *should* rightly take some credit for that, ie take *that* aspect of “incumbency”.
So…….how should she walk that tightrope? THAT’S her challenge.
I agree with this suggestion from a recent article from Dan Balz at The Washington Post that VP Harris should say as many times as possible leading up to the election:
You can ask me about all the policies you want, and I'm happy to answer. But if history tells us anything, it's that the thing that will most affect your lives in the next four years will be something none of us can foresee. And the most pressing question you need to ask yourself is which candidate you really want sitting behind that desk when the crisis arrives.
Who's going to think more about you in that moment? Which of us do you trust to gather experts and make sound decisions? Which of us will hold the country together, rather than split it apart?
Anyone who posits that KH is a "dummy" loses all credibility. (Talkin' to you, "Dutch").
Anyway... Kamala, obviously, still feels loyalty toward Uncle Joe. I would hope reasonable people would cut her a bit of slack. Re her evolving positions..duh! That is what politicians do. Times change, policy changes. Just ask chameleon Trump, the longtime pro-choice, Clinton supporting democrat.
( and if Don jr., the dimmest bulb in Home Depot, winds up picking the Trump cabinet we should all be looking for a new country to live in).
I took "The View" Biden record comment differently than most pundits do. I saw it as Kamala being unprepared for the question and, in the instant, not recognizing anything among the many positions taken by the administration that stood out to her as needing change. Now, some will say that any competent preparation would have included a question like it. And others will say that her inability to immediately pivot to an answer distinguishing her from Uncle Joe proves that she's not ready for the presidency. The latter necessitates a level of intelligence and awareness that few of us, especially Doanld Trump, have. Most recent Presidents could not have executed that pivot. But Harris must operate perfectly at every turn and Trump is excused even from the most basic abilities.
Harris did a good job in a tough environment. Now we'll wait on the MSNBC interview with Trump. Harris does have a problem with trying to distance herself from Biden's record. The obvious answer - "I wasn't the President and I didn't make the decisions." - cannot be offered. She is still the VP and she still has an obligation to her boss. And there is the matter of personal loyalty.
It seems kinda important, at least to me, to recognize that our household has been extremely pleased with the presidency of Joe Biden. Extremely pleased! And, BTW, I correctly predicted a year ago that there would be no recession. I'm an investor, but I sure as heck am not an economist. I keep asking why some of us can get this stuff figured out. When we have full employment and people spending money, there will not be a recession. Well, duh............Pundits and headline writers, pay attention!
Same here Wayne,my household and all my friends and colleagues that I know have been extremely, extremely PLEASED with President Biden's tenure!!. American economy is the best in the World. Crime rate is down and on and on.
lol. Chris, you used the term “cognitive” in connection to undecided voters. If they are still a truly undecided voter, something tells me that “cognitive” and them don’t often run into each other in the same sentence…
They’ve had 9 years of getting to know Trump and 4 years getting to know Harris, plus months of intensive campaigning and constant coverage. If you think that Kamala giving a slightly different answer on The View versus a sit down with Brett Baier, you are dreaming and sorely misunderstand that particular segment of the potential electorate. These people follow no news at all. They follow vibes, tone, momentum, and gut feeling. If Kamala gets praise for that interview and she came across as assertive, strong, and a fighter, that accrues to her benefit. What she said almost doesn’t matter at all.
If you need proof, notice how the incoherent ramblings of Trump made *zero* difference with these window-lickers on the school bus. I suspect that Trump’s weird dance session will have more impact, and when combined with the clips from the Fox News interview for Harris, she nets ahead this week by a lot. The trouble is, that Fox will largely have buried the Baier interview by tomorrow and will try to move past it without mention. They’ll probably pivot back to the disqualifying horror of Kamala’s hay fever.
You can say that Biden is unpopular, but the hard fact remains that millions of people like him a great deal. Harris‘s job is not to alienate anyone. So while her initial statement about not seeing any differences was not thought through, her latest statement today is the right way to put it. It doesn’t reject him. It just stands up for who she is.
Harris did great in that horrible interview. Brett B. was so rude but glad that Harris stood her grounds. The truth is that Harris debated Trump in September and won and she again debated Brett. B on FOX NEWS today and again won. Let's see if Trump will show up to CNN or MSNBC or 60 wins for interview.
Also, let's see how Chris analyze Harris' Fox interview and compare it side by side with his analysis of Trump's soft ball interview.
I agree that it was a terrible interview. Baier badgered her, and ask slanted and -- frankly -- dishonest questions. I thought she did a great job considering the environment.
Oh. No, I meant that VP Harris’ answers were terrible. She asked about 70% of the country believing it’s on the wrong track and her answer was that for 10 years Donald Trump has been campaigning for President. I’m not real sure why people thought that Fox News would be the View (which she absolutely missed a softball question, “what would you do differently than Pres. Biden”) or Colbert, where she missed the same softball.
I completely understand that you’re not a fan of former Pres. Trump. That’s absolutely your right as an American. But objectively, you have to admit that she looked woefully unprepared for that line of questioning. Kudos to her, for sure, for going on Fox, but if your goal is move the needle among undecided Republicans, she clearly failed. Those in her corner, like yourself, don’t really care about the Fox News interview, but you’re not the intended audience.
It’s a fine line that any Vice President must navigate in attempting to be loyal and proud of their work with the president and at the same time charting their own independent course. Harris has stumbled on doing that but is now beginning to make her own way.
Funny that now Chris is not believing Prof Allan Lichtman's prediction that Harris will win in NovemberthYou believed and celebrated him (Lichtman) in 2016 because he (correctly)predicted the Cult leader (Trump) was going to win, which he did. Now, the great Prof is predicting that Harris will win and Trump will lose using the same set of keys he used in 2016 when you believed and celebrated him, you're not believing him . What's the difference here people? The Prof. is predicting what Chris does not want.
Chris does not agree with the Prof. now but he ( Chris) will quote and reference all sorts of phony polls to buttress his narratives
I remember in 2016 the Democrats did not believe or agree with the Prof when he said Trump will win and almost all the polls were predicting a Clinton's win so I feel you Chris.
But I believe the Prof. before I believe any polls.

Exactly!

I agree it’s sort of wild. But that’s what the public seems to be saying!
Chris I don't buy your point that the electorate is saying Harris will lose and Trump will win if Harris doesn't distance herself from Biden.
That's your opinion
What Chris didn’t point out this time, but I believe has said before (if memory serves me…), is Harris has to “walk a tightrope” in regards to her participation in the decision-making of the Biden-Harris administration’s policies and policy successes. No one involved with Project 2025 will be in a second Trump administration? So Ben Carson and Stephen Miller are out?
If you believe that, I have a $100,000 watch you might want to buy.
He met with Betsy Devos to ask for cash. I guess that's okay from people who resigned on Jan. 7.

“JD Vance is a venture capitalist cosplaying as a cowboy." (Walz)
LMAO. In Texas we refer someone like this (Vance) as "All hat and no cattle" .... :-)
It’s unfortunate when the phrase cognitive dissonance comes up when discussing only one of the candidates statements.
