I hope that Trump's legal problems force the RNC to pay all his bills and leave little to no cash for all the other spineless Republicans to use in their races. It would serve them right.
Gee, what a surprise! Moscow Mitch will bend the knee. Wow. I am stunned at this, didn’t see that coming. They all make me sick. The GOP are a bunch of spineless, gutless and do not care about legislating. It’s all power and money. They are so afraid of Trump? What about growing a set, but no, they have to kiss the ring. Disgraceful
Do you think if we injected Mitch with truth serum, he wishes that he and others had voted to convict in the 2nd impeachment? They didn't because (I believe I have this right?) they thought J6 would be the end of Trump anyway. They had the chance right there to be rid of him as a candidate.
While I’m sure *many* Republican Senators regret their decisions NOT to find him guilty, I think that A) they thought that he may have “earned his lesson” and would modify his behavior, and B) McConnell is, first and foremost, a Republican with an agenda and he has used every means possible to forward that agenda (like stacking the Supreme Court with far right justices for a generation or more).
Nothing will dissuade him from his agenda. Nothing.
When someone is in their twilight years, a common expression is that "they have one foot in the grave". Due to his age and documented medical issues, it may be more accurate (but still in poor taste) to say that McConnell has at least half of his body already in the grave.
He really has nothing to lose at this point so what is stopping him from growing a pair and telling Trump to f-off? He may not survive to be primaried in the next election, and there's a good chance he'd lose an election to remain as minority leader in the Senate. He's responsible for some horrendous stuff (Garland), but his legacy could be as someone that helped stop Trump and MAGA.
I'm not a very religious person, but I would sincerely love it is The Rapture came and took all of the Republicans and Christian Nationalists away and let the rest of us get back to a bit of normalcy and governance.
I've thought the same thing, Eric. He's 82 years old. I don't think he's running for re-election anyway. After all the stuff he said about his wife, your last big act is going to be to endorse him? It's pathetic.
McConnell seems to have zero concern re his legacy, which is hard to believe for a guy who has spent a near lifetime in public service, and has, for the most part, been a highly regarded Republican leader. To put a match...no, a flamethrower..to that legacy by cowing to a toxic, seditious figure like Trump is bizarre and foolish.
Who fucking cares if or who McConnell "endorses"? Are there some swing GOPers somewhere among the great unwashed who will decide to pull the lever for Trump based on anything this craven old shit head says?
If McConnell had any balls he'd tell Trump if he disses Mrs.McConnell again he'll punch him in his fat orange face.
Love this song so much Chris. I was sick to my stomach this weekend hearing Trump claim he was a "proud Christian." Somebody needs to explain what an oxymoron is to him.
These people know if they don't bend the knee, if Trump wins, he will go after them and their families. Because he really is an insane person. Some are probably already pooping their pants because they know that Trump knows they don't like him.
Another politician doing something purely political. A true clutching of the pearls moment. The GOP is former Pres. Trump’s party for the foreseeable future. I’m not sure how many ways you can write the same thing before people begrudgingly accept this is where we are.
Doesn’t seem like McConnell can be worried about his political future. He’s what, 81? Will be mid-80s when up for reelection and has had serious health issues. He’s not even said he’ll stand for GOP Senate leader again next session. So why endorse Trump given all the enmity between the two? Would the caucus actually boot him out as leader for not endorsing Trump?
I just read the book Demagogue by Larry Tye. Joe McCarthy was enabled as much, if not more than Trump. The bubble burst for him after he went too far in going after the Army. The GOP should’ve cast Trump aside after January 6. They’re going to reap the whirlwind right along with him. Demagogues come with a shelf life.
Heitkamp said it was a rumor. Maybe someone knows more about defamation. That seems like enough especially in the age of Trump. It’s like those Fox chyrons with the question marks. It’s just so irresponsible not to speculate.
If your video’s horrifying/intriguing scenario actually happens, i’ll remember that you mooted this first. I’m curious to see if other pundits join you in speculating about this.

If Moscow Mitch had any morals, he would just decline to endorse
and retire. He has none, so that won't happen.

They sure did, and wasted it!

tRump does exactly the *opposite* of everything Jesus teaches.

Yup
And Nikki Haley will bend the knee too when she drops out. Sigh.
