Rather than running for the door, they should all grow a pair and tell Trump to "fuck off!"

Kind of a minor comment, but is a pet peeve of mine..... the charts about middle class and what the world can afford never show the real story in my opinion. I do believe that there is a struggling working class out there that needs support, and I am happy to pay taxes to provide that support! But I truly feel there is a solid middle area (1/3?) that is just straight spoiled. The amount of folks you see flying business class, traveling constantly to far flung locations, splurging for expensive meals-hotels-drinks-front of the line passes, attending concerts at exorbitant prices, etc, - and then promptly complaining about not having emergency funds to pay for a car repair? Or going into debt for these splurges? Or taking out absurd 8 year loans for cars they can't afford? Yeah, I call bullshit. Priorities. You don't get to have it all just because you want it.

The Republican Party has given itself over entirely to Donald J Trump. There are no “normies” left. Our job in November is to vote them out of office insofar as we can…..leaving the few who will be reelected in extremist districts to twist in the wind. And above all, Donald J Trump must not get anywhere near the Oval Office ever again. We can do this.

The GOP is going further down the toilet, all for Trump. It’s a disgrace.

In case you miss it people, Donald Trump must face a jury of his peers next month in the criminal hush money payment to porn star Stommie Daniel. Oh,also tomorrow, a NewYork judge will let the American people know how much Trump should pay the state of NewYork for his FRAUD conviction.

We can only hope it's alot. He has to get his donors fired up to pay it. They are happy to sacrifice at the altar of their savior.

If Manchin does run, it will be only to screw President Biden.

I have to believe there isn't a single D out there that would support him. He's screwed our party so hard for his selfish priorities.

Absolutely agree. And Republicans won't vote for him because he's a "Democrat." I don't get it. At all.

It’s all about staying in the spotlight. He doesn’t give a shit if it hurts Biden.

Why does Manchin have the gall to think Romney would even consider being his VP running mate?

He’s not much younger than President Biden and neither is Romney. They need to give it up.

As the normie Republicans in Congress retire, and are in large part replaced by MAGA wackos, we will be left with a House made up of attention seeking fools, "progressive" loons, and normal members looking for an escape hatch. Not good.

Take the A Train. Classic.

Great call on the Ellington, Chris, thanks!!

Two observations: 1) Yes, Duke's "Take the 'A' Train" -- written by Billy Strayhorn -- is one of the truly great classics in American music history; and, 2) Senator Tammy Baldwin is going to be a comfortable winner in November. The GOPers ALWAYS think they are going to defeat her. The GOPers are ALWAYS wrong.

And Biden is also going to WIN Wisconsin in November

Biden won the state if Wisconsin in 2020 and he's going to defeat Trump there again in November

Trump may have won Wisconsin in 2016, but this ain't 2016.

With every retirement the average IQ of House Republicans spirals downward.

I look forward to Eric Hovde answering the tough questions he’ll have to answer in order to please the lord and master of the GOP.

I have a different take on the destruction of what little is left of the Reagan Republican Party. What we are seeing is not a Trump takeover. It is the final victory of the right-wing media over the party "establishment" that Rush Limbaugh began. Put another way, angertainment victorious over policy. Trump and the "cult of Trump" are creations and prominent symbols of the angertainment complex. Were Trump to ingest a fatal cheeseburger tomorrow, the anger, resentment, grievance, and partisanship of the cult would remain. It would merely need a new figurehead. Contemplate a Tucker Carlson or JD Vance, for example. RIP, GOP. Welcome the GP, Grievance Party, its successor.

Very good column. On a personal note I saw Duke Ellington in the Middle East in 1963. Amazing! Thanks for the clip.
