No, Mike Johnson, it doesn't make sense to everybody to just bury the report. Many of us want to know just how big of a creep Gaetz is if he's going to be AG.

Seth Mouton is on to something. The fact that Dems can't have a serious conversation about why Dems lost is exactly why they lost.

I feel like Seth Moulton nailed it! It's not what he said. But he just said what he thinks. Boom! No agenda, no games, no weirdness. THAT is what makes folks so against the dems. They don't trust all that crap. Folks know politicians have an agenda. Fine. But own your thoughts and ideas. Don't parrot some party line. I was dying for Kamala to just break out and say stuff. I still supported her. But it would have been awesome for her to be more ballsy and authentic.

I think voters do like candidates that they view as authentic and saw Trump as more authentic than Kamala. Years ago in MN we elected both J Ventura as governor and P Wellstone as Senator because both were view as straight talkers.

The party doesn't need to join in Republicans' hatred of transgender people, but it does need to respond to Republicans' attack. Democrats need to explain to the country that the issue is not about sports, that's just a red herring. The issue is whether transgender people can exist at all in America.

I would never support hate. Or even unkindness and intolerance. But if you think the sports is just a red herring you are absolutely in denial. Women have to fight and scrap and claw for every advancement in our rights. And even then some get taken back (Dobbs). But sports matters in high school and college. And having to lose out - yet again - to men, is a big deal.

I did not know those stats and appreciate the share. But I don't think the number matters. The idea is that if we continue to deem men's participation in women's sport acceptable, then it will happen more and more. And to the 5 HS and 40 collegiate athletic team members, it is a very big deal. We have to find a way to support and validate transgender folks without it negatively impacting those around them.

Those estimated 40 in NCAA sports include trans women and trans men, so your worries about trans women competing, the actual numbers are even fewer than the 40.

There are no men competing in women's sports, they are trans women.

In youth sports participating is what is important, not winning or losing. Youth sports build friendships, character, and confidence, teaches team work, sportsmanship, and how to dig deep to overcome setbacks. Singling out one group to deny participation to based on who they are is wrong and antithetical to what youth sports is all about, imho.

Not all males are bigger and stronger than all females. There are a lot of females bigger and stronger than many males.

I really don’t want to be unkind or disrespectful, but winning does actually matter. Along with the values you bring up. And trying to say not all men are stronger and women weaker is rather disingenuous . We have separated sports for a reason. There is an obvious difference in physical ability. Women would hold no records at all if held to compete against men. I think we may have to agree to disagree here.

As a dude who is into dudes, my observation of the transgender movement is they seem to have an EON (everything or nothing) policy. And they treat it like a religion. If you don't chant 'Transwomen are women!' you are committing heresy. I think most people are live and let live. If you feel uncomfortable in your own skin, I can't relate, but if you want to present as the opposite sex and call yourself by a different name, that's cool, and I'll use your new name.

But I don't think you actually changed sex. I think women have a right to feel comfortable in women's only spaces. Let's put in more gender neutral bathrooms if needed, but you don't need to be 'affirmed' by going where the real girls go. Big male bodies should not be in women's sports. Children should not be getting sterilized before they have even experienced their first orgasm. I do not think the whole language should be overhauled with words and terms like 'chestfeeding' and 'bodies with vaginas' to make a very small segment of the population happy. I'm attracted to men; a transman with a vagina would be an complete turnoff to me and it's not 'transphobic' for me to never want to date any transman. But as long as they are trying to push this crap on us, they will continue to lose sympathy with the general public and politicians who advocate for this EON approach are going to continue to lose elections.

How is it possible that Jack Teixeira, a 22-year-old American airman who leaked Pentagon secrets gets 15 years in jail and DT has a tacky bathroom full of boxes of classified documents he stole from the White House, and gets elected President? It's nauseating.

Perhaps instead of looking for the problem in Democrats, we should look at what possessed 49% of voters to return Trump to office. Moulton lists off reasons Trump should have been beatable. That he was supported in spite of all of this tells us 1 of 2 things: people are ignorant (I'll include disinformed in this category) or apathetic. Meanwhile Trump is putting together a committee to hollow out military leadership to leave only Trump loyalists. Where did the Democrats go wrong on that one?

100% this. The only people I blame for Trump are Trump voters.

So the Democrats are supposed to listen to a demagogue like Seth Moulton???

I have no idea where he has been but the idea that the β€œDemocrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face.”….(which is rather farcical in and of itself…maybe Seth was not listening.) but the TOPPER is the ONLY example of being β€œbrutally honest” about the β€œchallenges many African face” and THIS is what he comes up wit?!?!?

β€œI have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”.

This is PURE BIGOTED BULLSHIT!!!

No Seth, one of the β€œchallenges many Americans face” is NOT the almost non-existent (except in the GOP’s usual anti-LGBTQ demagoguery) of β€œgetting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete”.

I say NO….I REFUSE to buy into this bigoted bullshit.

KUDOS to his former campaign manger that β€œabruptly quit”.

The truth is that Seth has NO IDEA why the Democrats lost in 2024 and if he wants to lie and spread hate like a typical Republican, then become one.

Trump and congressional Republicans have a Constitution and rule of law problem on their hands. As long as they follow these, everyone will be on their best behavior. Trump can make as many crazy decisions as he likes. It’s all within the rules.

Making Gaetz Attorney General by hiding a congressional report which details his crimes, begins to stray into corruption territory. Now we all knew Trump was likely to be a constitutional law breaker at some point. But it might have surprised the Republicans just how fast we got here. Trump and his administration become thugs at that point.

Trump becomes not a President but a dictator. Then it’s a free for all. With sides. Because no law or police or courts which support Trump are ever going to save you. If you are a democrat they will be coming for you. There are at least a few Congressional Republicans who understand this and at the moment are at least saying that they will oppose Gaetz nomination. If they fail, it’s violence and war. An unbound Trump with no guardrails to stop him will kill people. He hates his enemies.

Trump has told us exactly what he will do. Many Americans just don’t believe him. Yet. Which I find bizarre. But the sooner we get to the point, the sooner we can do something about it. And remember, Trump will be letting folks who attacked police out of jail. Hello. Wakey wakey. lol

As for the Democrats, there are plenty of them who all want a leadership position and all have a theory. About the loss. Harris is a black woman who was on the Biden current government ticket when COVID induced inflation still hurt families economically. That’s likely accounts for the 1.5-2 % that she lost by. It’s not hard to figure out. And it’s not a huge %. But it was everywhere.

Trump should remember that elections have consequences. Law breaking, constitutional breaking does too. There’s always going to be a price paid for that. And it’s coming soon if he misbehaves and causes pain to Americans.
