If you spend $99 or more on Trump's cards and then complain about the economy and not being able to pay your bills and that's why you're voting for him, you have been played.

The fact that people keep falling for this grift is insane.

You keep saying it, Chris and it's right, Trump is a pro wrestling carnie at heart.

I encourage everyone to watch the entire CBS Sunday Morning program from yesterday (you can find it online). Ted Koppel hosted. It was devoted to the election and titled "This time is different". They had a segment where Ted interviewed folks attending the Wisconsin State Fair. While it was split between people voting Harris/Walz and others voting for trump/vance, the folks voting for trump were so clueless that I wanted to tear my hair out listening to them. One older woman was talking about the other side and being "woke". Ted asked her what that meant and she could not answer him, she actually said she did not know what "woke" meant but that she didn't like it! These are the people voting for trump.

I saw the show too. It was very good. Also interesting were the people who said they were voting for him but didn't like him or approve of him.

That lady was the opposite of woke. There are many low information people in the country, unfortunately.

It’s sad that so many Americans are the ill informed. I watched that show too.. really well done

Chris--how much does he make from the Federal government for overcharging the Secret Service at his two "resort/clubs"? How much did he make from foreign governments that stayed in his DC hotel?

It's a shame that the "emoluments clause" case never succeeded in gaining traction. His supporters claim he lost money as president. In fact it was a non-stop grift.

I desperately need for him to go away!!!

All exactly right, Chris. Although he boasts of being a builder/developer, he mostly failed at that (other than as to golf courses). He gave up real development years ago and shifted to licensing deals of the Trump brand, which is now, of course, discredited. As you say, he and his family profited wildly from his term. The facts disqualifying Trump are all available. The polling tells us (a) many among us don't care to know and (b) others know but don't care.

Many/most of is golf courses lose money on an annual operational basis. The properties may well increase in value - land being land of course. :-)

Humans haven’t changed that much in ninety years, they still fall for the flim flam man. The dangerous creep who can fool them into believing he knows what’s best for them and who to hate. Trump is the modern Fuhrer. Hitler didn’t fool the educated and upper middle class Germans, he fooled the uneducated and greedy Germans. He attracted the criminals, just like Trump. He attracted the selfish just like Trump. I don’t know how Trump feels about Jews, certainly hope not like Hitler but I do know how he feels about Muslims, Blacks and brown skinned people and it’s terrifying!

Great observations, Miss Suzy.

His son-in-law Jared is Jewish and Trump’s daughter converted for her husband.

Trump is truly terrifying on all fronts. I hope Kamala can hold up against him.

As much I loved Obama, I would never spend my money on anything he would put out. The only related Obama items are his books.

We americans seem to be determined to make ourselves laughingstocks to folks all the world over. Thanks for that, MAGA.

MAGAs have to balance the cost of a box of eggs with the cost of an AK. That can be hard on a family’s economy when trying to make ends meet.

Donald J Trump is utterly unfit for the presidency. That this abjectly corrupt television personality won the Oval Office once was a terrible twist of bad luck for the American people. This time,we know exactly who and what Trump is. If we elect him, then we deserve him.

Do you think the children have the same business philosophy as their father? I am absolutely fascinated to know if you think he is unmoored without a Roy Cohn in his life - I perceive that Mike C and Rudy G are also rans who are more about themselves than about him? I would hope you would write about this!! What do you think???

Absolutely yes Chris - the gift is "the" thing. I'd suggest Trump grifting has gone way beyond small scale swindling (selling steaks and bottled water ...ec.) in 2 ways. Its now very big or maybe even HUGE (pun intended).

1) If you have not seen/read it yet, check out Juleanna Glover's piece in the NYT. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/26/opinion/republican-donors-money-trump.html

Trump PACs have funneled at least $18M into a private entity called Red Curve Solutions - ostensibly to pay legal bills. That is on top of an additional $15M diverted into a company created in 2023 called Launchpad Strategies and it is unclear who owns it, who runs it or where the $15 million went. Typically in the past, Trump family members, including one Jared Kushner, have had their fingerprints on stuff like this. Apparently, this same playbook was used in the 2020 election. BTW - Ms. Glover is NO democrat!

2) Its now a case of grifters grifting other grifters. This is the super bowl of grifting. Ever wonder why all of a sudden Trump is a fan of crypto? Yup - a new grift in the works.

Trump's people (aka Don Jr. and Eric) are apparently working on a crypto borrowing and lending service that includes a new cryptocurrency called World Liberty Financial. Other insiders in this effort include a couple of hucksters with, shall we say, rather sketchy backgrounds.... The plan for World Liberty Financial being circulated indicates a desire to initially raise $540 million by selling the new crypto token with 70% of the funds controlled by insiders. That percentage is significantly more than what other similar crypto services have offered. At this point this project is generating more questions than answers ....
