I left legacy media to build something different: independent, honest political analysis that isn’t owned by corporations or parties.

I call balls and strikes—no matter who’s at bat—because what’s missing right now are referees, not cheerleaders ⚾.

If you want clear, concise takes that cut through the noise (without the cable-news theatrics), this is the newsletter for you šŸŽÆ.

Subscribe if you believe politics is better when someone just tells you what actually matters rather than just what you want to hear 🧠.

I am doing a livestream on my YouTube channel today at 1 pm eastern. Come hang out and ask questions! CLICK HERE.

I am back from the Big Apple and I can confirm: It’s still a pretty great city.

I learned a ton at Substack’s ā€œThe Once and Future Media Forum.ā€ I am still sifting through my notes, thoughts and the like. I am planning to write a few posts inspired by what I heard on Thursday — so stay tuned!

Below I answered a whole bunch of subscriber questions from the week that was.

Q: Do you think John Cornyn regrets his vote on the second impeachment in 2021?

A: Hmmm. Good question. That is very hard to answer!

Only 7 Republican Senators voted to convict Donald Trump after January 6, 2021. Of those seven, only ONE is guaranteed to be back in 2027: Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

It seems pretty clear from that record that voting to convict Trump in 2021 was something pretty close to a political death sentence.

Of course, Trump screwed Cornyn anyway — endorsing Ken Paxton a week before this week’s runoff. And Cornyn got his ass handed to him….
