It’s not President Biden that’s in deep shit. It’s our country. It’s the country of Ukraine. It’s probably the whole world. The people that are going to be hurt the worst by a Trump presidency are likely to be the ones in red states that vote him back in.
I’m at least hopeful that a blue state government provides some buffer for his policies. Can’t imagine living where red state governments are given free rein.
Biden’s going to go into retirement and be fine. Republicans will lose all interest in persecuting him once he’s out of office. I’d actually been thinking if they really wanted to impeach him they should be rooting for a second term because it’s gonna take at least that long to find evidence of his “corruption.”
I see Bill Barr and any other apostates as in more danger of being imprisoned than Biden. He’ll be fine.
There will be NO Trump Presidency again. Trump is the one in deep Shit with his multiple Criminal cased coming up. He knows that and that is he raging against the Supreme Cou5 this a.m as I heard on his FALSE SOCIAL for taking the case against him. His problems are real and that's the definition of someone in deep shit...91 indictments!
I mostly feel that way, too. I keep in my mind that there’s a possibility each way of Trump being president again and not, tho. I want to be psychologically prepared either way and not be overly exuberant or despondent.
Wanted to say I love False Social. I’ve been calling it Bleat Social. Won’t use its Orwellian name.
I’m in upstate NY and would welcome a country made up of northeast states. We can ship Elise Stefanik off to Alabama. The Jesusland map hasn’t changed much.
The problem is that I dont think Trump has gained votes. No people who didn’t vote for him last time will vote for him this time. And I also think many people who did vote for him won t this tome because of all the indictment and stuff. But also, Joe Biden lost alot of votes which means that even tho those people might not vote for Trump they might not go vote at all. And then because of voter turnout out Trump might win again. And that is scary. Hopefully people are aware of the threat Trump poses and go vote. I wish I could become American for 1 day just to vote against trump!
Agree that Trump isn't adding votes. But he may not need to in order to win! Especially if some bloc of voters who would be for Biden decide to throw their hands up and stay home.
It is wishful thinking to hope that Biden voters would sit out the next election. When the dust settles with regards to Isreal /Hamas war and the economy continues to improve and the real threat Trump poses is being highlighted, Biden's voters would come home to elect him. Biden is not in any shot, Trump is with his pending CRIMINAL cases and lost of his businesses in NewYork. Like I said yesterday slot of Trump supporters are on sugar high based on these phony polls 11 months out. Counting their eggs before they are hatched!
I don't get it, but I did see one guy say in an interview that he didn't vote for Trump in 2020 but he will now because of all the indictments. He said each time Trump has been indicted, it has made him like Trump even more. WTF?
I think Trump's support is, largely, emotional rather than rational. People think that the elites are somehow screwing them -- and that Trump (yes, I know) is the voice of the common man.
The idea the “common man” has made Trump their “champion” is absolute irony and idiocy at its finest. I guarantee Trump sees nothing in common with the vast majority of the people that support him. He only wants their vote so he can have power. Otherwise, he has no use for them.
This is a pretty ominous newsletter from Chris. I read it and get a pit in my stomach. Feels like the death of our democracy. I’m praying that whatever political strategists are working on messaging for Biden, knows what they are doing. Because that is one thing, I hate to say, that Republicans are very good at is getting their message out, no matter how brainwashing, hateful, ridiculous and cult-like they may be. Democrats need work in that area and need create a narrative that will engage and excite voters. I know Biden has challenges in that department, but something needs to connect with independent voters that motivates them to vote for Joe.
Chris, I respect your honesty and truth can be hard and sobering to hear. But I’m hoping what you depict is a reality check and helps to motivate people to make sure we don’t lose our democracy.
Richard , please don't get sucked into that narrative when no single vote has been cast 11 months before the election. Biden is going to WIN in 2024. Remember their forecast for the midterms
Thank you Doctor for your words. I am hopeful people will realize when the time comes what is at stake. I’m hoping that these difficult to hear words become the beacon of motivation and reality 11 months from now to protect our American experiment. While America may be a country, it is also an idea that needs to nurtured.
It is indisputable that Biden is currently deep in shit and it's also clear that he is avoiding directly addressing his age issue and the Hunter problems. But even if I sense he and his staff turn direction almost as slowly as the inadequate rudder on the Titanic, I think they are just fast enough to avoid the iceberg. Other glacially slow factors, a decline in inflation, a rise in consumer confidence, the likely prospect of soft economic landing following Fed rate increases, may not get the political headlines but they are providing buoyancy for people's prospects that may not be apparent in the short term but are likely to factor in 2024. Meanwhile warning shouts such as this will and should continue.
There are reasons for the lack of adequate response. First, there are no "good" answers re Hunter, especially while the situation remains fluid. If Hunter pleads guilty, it would give Joe a chance to say has and will support his son , but he believes in accountability , and it's time to move on. Second, Joe has never been a great communicator, and he is clearly diminished by age. He should have pulled out. Since he hasn't, he needs to empower surrogates to do some of the work to tout his positive record.
Richard Keeling, looks like you gave also bought into these false illusion that Biden is doomed. There is nothing his campaign will do that they will not blame them. They know what they are doing. Please sir don't panic just because of what some talking and writing heads are saying and want you to believe.
I am nothing if not baffled at how what would be campaign-ending negatives for any other politician have instead for him become positives. But, maybe I shouldn't be because, you know, "the cult".
It isn't just Biden, voters around the world are po'd, Canada, Britain, and Germany all incumbent governments are polling poorly. In the US system, voter angst is always directed at the President, but that doesn't mean that those voters will pull the lever for Trump or not vote a year from now.
That dynamic will change when voters face a real choice and are not just venting their collective spleens at some pollster.
Is Biden waiting for Trump to officially be the nominee to seriously start his campaign? I think you are correct that a lot of people are distracted right now and
Just 23% of voters in a new Wall Street Journal poll say that Biden’s policies have helped them while a whopping 53% say the policies have hurt them. (By contrast 49% say Trump’s policies while in office helped them while 37% say it hurt them.)
Please tell me what frickin' planet these people live on. It must be Earth 2, where the sky is green and the grass is blue.
EVERY DAMN THING TRUMP DID HURT PEOPLE!! Including these morons.
Whoever it was who said it was right: "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter." (Hint: it wasn't Churchill, though I am sure he would have agreed)
Watching these people flush their country and their lives down the toilet while thinking what they're doing is good thing reminds me I need to renew my passport.
Hey Chris, I heard you are a big Harry Potter fan like myself, so I am using an analogy here to Book and Film 5 "Order Of The Phoenix" to see if there is any comparison.
While I do agree with you, and I do believe that Biden is in serious trouble and a slight yet clear underdog, I was wondering if it feels like the medias focus on Biden's controversies and bad polling numbers feels like the Ministry of Magics smear campaign in Harry Potter Order Of The Phoenix. Where the Ministry of Magic led by minister Cornelius Fudge viciously slandered, vilified and smeared Harry and Dumbledore and their claims that Voldemort returned all in a selfish attempt at securing more power. To me it has been starting to feel that way a bit. Im not including you here in this generalization, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on this thanks.
Im a big Potter fan I got sorted into Ravenclaw while I wanted to be Gryffindor or Slytherin on Pottermore, I think that what you laid out is probably why Biden is not doing so well. Im an honest guy while I personally want Biden to win, I think Trump is the favorite at this point.
One area that remains to be seen is how much Senate candidate Dems can outrun Biden (Casey in PA, Baldwin in WI, Brown in OH, Tester win MT, Open seats in MI and AZ, Rosen in NV. Brown and Tester are probably tiny underdogs, while the others seem favored for now and are mostly popular but usually when an incumbent loses especially substantially they often have dragged down other candidates with them so it remains to be seen.
I would suggest that you check out the Reuters/Ipsos polls that came out this morning before you buy into the narrative that Trump is the favorite to win at this point in time. Biden is going to WIN the Presidency and the Democrats will win the House while the Republicans will win the Senate. That is why Chuck Schumer needs to continue to get these judges confirmed at a very rapid pace
I'm leaning more and more toward hoping for a coordinated withdrawal by Uncle Joe. It's long past time for a generational change in the presidency. Neither the age nor Hunter problems will dissipate. And the negative public aftertaste from the pandemic seems more attributed to him than to Trump, though that makes little sense.
The conventional wisdom places a strong premium on incumbency over "untested" candidates, so many assume that (name your prominent Dem) cannot beat Trump. Yet a Dem under 70 would quickly flip the age script against Trump. And a replacement candidate would not carry the same blame for "bad vibes" in the wake of the pandemic and its attendant inflation.
Any withdrawal has to be coordinated with Kamala Harris remaining the VP pick. Her only chance of winning the presidency is if she ascends to it by death or incapacitation and then runs for it after having a successful term-completion under her belt. If she's removed from the ticket, many minority voters will stay home. Were she to voluntarily return to the Senate, there would not be an issue, but that's not going to happen.
Uncle Joe picking a successor candidate would seem undemocratic, but how worse is that than the steamrolling of Republicans by Trump? There are good, younger Dem candidates out there. If Trump is likely to beat Biden, why not at least try one of them?
In the betting world, when you've given up on a specific game you say:
Moving this one to the right. Taking the L.
I'm not quite there....yet. But, I am inching ever so closely to making that distinction mentally. And then from there I'll start voicing it aloud.(as if anyone cares my opinion)
I guess, and I'm not sure why, Biden believes he's got time on his side and thinks the campaign will start in earnest come Jan1 or sometime around then.....?!?
I wonder:
Is it possible Biden is going to announce his intent NOT run somewhere around Jan 1 and pass it off to Kamala instead? Thus allowing Newsome to officially declare?
I can't see that, but, I'm starting to wonder.
Regardless, passports are updated. Paperwork for repatriating to Norway, due to wife's descent, are underway.....so ya.....really rosy stuff happening in the good ol U S of A
Sidenote....to all the gamblers out there.....AMAZING things can happen once you give up on a bet and do move it to the right! Hail Mary's happen! Unforced errors happen! Refs do dumb ish!!! However.....really....really.....really bizarre we might be down to a hail Mary type event necessary to save the Republic.

If this happens, the West Coast needs to secede.
I never liked the secession idea, but I’m beginning to become a convert.
I’m in upstate NY and would welcome a country made up of northeast states. We can ship Elise Stefanik off to Alabama. The Jesusland map hasn’t changed much.

I spoke too soon. We can maybe add Virgina, Arizona and New Mexico onto Libland.
Bring MD along with VA. I spent most of my life in that area. Moving back there would be easier than going to Portugal.
The great nation of Cascadia! It will consist of the coastal regions of Washington, Oregon and California!
Who would want to go inland?
🤣
TCinla, it's not going to happen
You are so right. It's the country that is in deep trouble if the the orange maniac dictator wannabe is elected.
More like “America is in deep shit”

Too true...

For one vote Trump supposedly gets for being held accountable for for his crimes, he loses 4 votes so net, net, he loses 3 votes
Actually, I was reading an article this am that mentioned DJT is gaining more voters than Biden amongst people who did not vote in 2020... Scarry.
Yup. Maybe this piece? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2023/09/06/trump-lead-2024-odds-poll/70715917007/
USA Today? Written by a robot??

Oops. Hit the arrow! Things will get better when Biden starts campaigning.
I think that is the best hope Democrats have, Terri. That once the campaign actually engages, Biden will start trending upward.
Tough love. I wish you weren't right, but it sounds right. I do not understand Trump's appeal, but clearly he appeals to too many people.
He clearly is not disqualified in a way I thought he would be for all his anti-Democratic sentiments and actions. Amazing..
I am nothing if not baffled at how what would be campaign-ending negatives for any other politician have instead for him become positives. But, maybe I shouldn't be because, you know, "the cult".

Fair enough. I think you may well be right! But, right now, it looks pretty dark for Biden.
Is Biden waiting for Trump to officially be the nominee to seriously start his campaign? I think you are correct that a lot of people are distracted right now and
You didn’t even mention that there will be other candidates peeling off anti-fascist votes, some making differences on Israel-Palestine their issue.
The VOTE BLUE FOR DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM message needs to be constant.
This election isn’t about Biden. It’s about democracy.
I made bumper stickers available here https://thecommunety.etsy.com
Just 23% of voters in a new Wall Street Journal poll say that Biden’s policies have helped them while a whopping 53% say the policies have hurt them. (By contrast 49% say Trump’s policies while in office helped them while 37% say it hurt them.)

If you poll mostly Republicans and pretend that they are independents and Democrats, that's the kind of results you will get
Doctor, you are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts. There is zero evidence these polls are doing what you allege. Sorry.
Agree with you... as a Dem we should be worried
Hey Chris, I heard you are a big Harry Potter fan like myself, so I am using an analogy here to Book and Film 5 "Order Of The Phoenix" to see if there is any comparison.

LOVE a Harry Potter comparison!
I think -- and have written -- that the Trump campaign has been VERY effective in its portrayal of Biden as a fumbling, bumbling old man.
I think that has been helped by the fact that the Biden team have largely avoided engaging on the age issue (for unknown reasons).

I think if Biden loses, Dems lose the Senate too. SO hard to significantly overperform the top of the ticket in a very contested presidential cycle.
