Cristo,

Whenever something about or by Trump comes out there is the usual reaction that "Trump Supporters" will be reved-up.

Why is important when GOP is 24% of electorate??

More important are the thoughts of the 44% of Independents.

Trump will not win with 100% of 24%...Uncle Joe will not win with 100% of the 27% of Dems.

When will we hear more about the thoughts of the 44%????

Most independents have strong leanings to the right or left so there many fewer that are actual swing voters.

I agree, Ralph.

But that 40+ ratio of the population's ideology is not considered.

I have a center-left lean toward politics...yet the "touchy-feely" snowflakes on the Purdue University campus (2 miles away from my home) would think me a crazy MAGA because I believe everyone, regardless of ideology, should have the right to present on behalf of some organization of the student body even if it hurts someone's feelings.

BTW - Purdue allows some dude claiming a Christian group relevance, not connected to any university organization, to spout his nuttiness toward female students wearing shorts as being whores, and similarly dressed young men being gay. [No harm, no foul, no issue].

If Trump somehow got jail time, even just two months, he would have to do what all rich old guys do, and fake poor health so he does not have to serve time in prison. That weakness would 100% spell the end of his career. - My cheerful thought for the day.

Marjorie Taylor Greene called for a "national divorce". The concept is simply impossible--there are

"red regions" within overall blue states; there are "blue cities" within red states.

So, what's the solution to the seemingly growing enmity between Democrats and Republicans?

The ignorant, anti-intellectual Madge "Dude Looks Like A Lady" Greene (aka poster child of Trans-Glam) has no idea what it was like in Belfast,

Northern Ireland for three decades.

Protestant and Catholics were in unCivil War in which more civilians were killed than sectarian combatants.

Stupid is what stupid says.

The Republicans are staking out so many extreme positions that are counter to the majority of Americans opinions. How do they think they can win only appealing to their narrow base?

Chris if you were to bet now, who do you think would be the Republican nominee for President in 2024 and who would you bet will win the Presidential election in 2024?

How can the US claim to have the moral highground in international relations when it refuses to be part of the International Criminal Court, just like Russia and China?

Chris, I just don’t understand. WHAT is wrong with the Republicans??? Why are they so terrified of minorities of every ilk ? Do they actually believe the crap they speak ? Do they actually think cutting SS, Medicare/aid, raising drug prices, cutting taxes on the rich etc etc etc is going to help get them Re/elected (which seems to be the only real goal: Re-election. It’s gotta be a very lucrative job.

What is wrong with democrats? Why do they support child grooming and castration? Why do they make everything about DEI and ESG?

I'm not a Democrat, but I would be interested in the citation of that party's official policy statements of your allegations.

Not a single Democrat has condemned teachers talking to students about gender without parental permission. They openly support drag queen story hours. Everything they do is about "diversity" but not excellence.

Hey Chris! If you could toss probability aside, wave your magic wand and hand-pick your ideal 2024 GOP Presidential Nominee, who would it be? Why?

I enjoy your work. Curious -- do you have any regrets/reassessment over your 2016 coverage of the Hillary email story?

I'm wondering what you make of all the coverage of Ron DeSantis being socially awkward and whether it has any merit on his chances. I'm someone who is socially awkward and struggles in social situations and idk it makes me a little uncomfortable seeing it.

Expand full comment

I am sorry that you sometimes feel awkward, everyone does from time to time. Ron however, by entering politics has set himself up for failure and I have no sympathy for him. Politicians sometime have to ad-lib and speak without a script. He simply cannot do that. He is just what his handlers make him. To use an old phrase I just made up, he is just a damp squid. :-)

Are there any of these moderate, third-party startups (no labels, forward, etc) considering endorsing major-party candidate when they are tolerable, and third candidates only when necessary? Are any of them pushing for election reform to end the two-party stranglehold?

If Republicans are conservatives (which means "averse to change") how come they are against taking measures to fight climate change? Since by definition it means that the climate will *change*. I don't necessarily mean MAGA Republicans, but even moderate senators.

Because the climate has always changed and the policies used to fight it are destructive https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/how-to-raise-your-esg-score

Fighting climate change will eliminate profits on fossil energy. Fighting climate change will cost a lot of money. Fighting climate change will require that we change the way we live. Etc.
