For Trump - Please explain how tariffs work (and then fact-check him)

Expand full comment

I had two questions for President Trump, one of which was similar: How will tariffs help with making ANYTHING cheaper?

Expand full comment

Yes! This is the most important question for Trump.

Honestly, if there's one thing Trump has been consistent on, and probably has some knowledge of, it's tariffs.

Bullsh*t.........it is clear that he is clueless.........he has no frickin' idea how they work and who they impact.

The man supposedly has an Economics degree from U Penn. But I have it from a number of sources that they think Daddy bought the degree and DonOLD didn't do the course work. Because back then Ivy League schools sold "gentlemen's degrees" in areas such as Economics and Literature to people willing to buy them.

So, while you would think he would know how tariffs work, he likely has no clue.

I like 9 of the 10 questions, but asking Harris about doing another interview during a presidential debate where she is answering questions is next level media navel gazing. I refuse to believe you would actually ask it if you were moderating as its an absurd waste of time and failure to inform the public.

Come on Chris.

Like sorry, we didn't have time to address gun violence or climate change, instead we want a 2 minute answer to if you will do another interview and then a minute of Trump rebuttal about whether you will do an interview.

It's an absurd question to say the list Greg

There's little chance that she won't do another interview so it's a silly question, and on top of that, few people care. But if it must be asked, I wouldn't say "mainstream media outlet." That's a right-wing framing. Especially since Trump talks almost exclusively to right-wing outlets.

As usual, Chris Cilliza is parroting the MAGA talking point.

I like your questions. I think the abortion question is too complicated for Trump to process, however. Also, I think there's a typo in you "chosen one" question...he was referring to Jessica Leeds not E. Jean Carrol...so many women...so many assaults...sigh

I agree about “too complicated for Trump.” But, really, if this is too complicated, should his hand be on the nuclear codes?

For Trump: You claim that you will be able to resolve the Israel-Hamas war.

How?

For VP Harris: A lot of Jewish voters are very nervous right now about a certain wing of your party. What do you say to them?

I like these.

I would take exception to the notion that trump released “detailed medical records” in 2021. The document released was roundly denounced by physicians as not being the kind of report that would be made and was clearly redacted or edited to reflect what he wanted people to read — “the best health of any president in history” etc.

And remember he self declared 6’3” and 215 pounds when he was booked at the Fulton County jail. That was Muhammad Ali in his prime.

Expand full comment

It’s hilarious. He has at least a 44” waist. Though I’m sure they mark all his pants 32”.

But if the body odor issue is indeed real, you need to show some sympathy for whoever was responsible for obtaining the measurements. Hazardous duty pay?

Expand full comment

Yes! And medical records need to be from reputable doctors … NOT pill-pusher Ronny Johnson or Reggie Jackson or whatever name Trump is calling that whacko now!

Question for both candidates ... You say you won't cut Social Security. But if we do nothing, cuts will come automatically in 9-10 years. What will be your general approach to this issue? Cut benefits? Raise the retirement age? Lift the cap on income subject to Social Security taxes? Please discuss...

Really substantive questions for both of them instead of asking the MAGA question of when Harris will hold another Presser

For Trump - Did you lose the 2020 election?

Or ask him who won the 2020 presidential election

Question for Trump- "When choosing a president of the United States, should decency matter? If so, do you think your past behavior is disqualifying"?

( guessing that won't be asked, but a guy can dream! )

All well and good…and some interesting questions…but here’s what is going to happen: The moderators are going to ask Trump a question, he’ll cock his head to one side as though his is listening to it, then he will spend his time saying whatever he wants to say, whether or not it actually pertains to the question in a meaningful way. There may be sharks and boats, electricity and windmills, hell, Hannibal Lecter may even show up. There will be no substantive information coming from Trump, just the same tired old chestnuts that we’ve heard for a decade.

I like your questions. Should we ask about tax returns? Or does that not matter anymore?

What about that never-ending audit he lied about in 2016?

Expand full comment

I agree there should be a question about tariffs. I want him to explain how he thinks they work and they should be ready with a basic fact check.

Mr. Trump have you ever paid for an abortion? Had anyone killed?

Donald, can you tell me specifically which school has this secret gender reassignment surgery room that you've been talking about where my son Jimmy would go to school one day and then come home later that afternoon as a Jenny?

My question for Trump: "You have said emphatically that you will arrest and imprison people who have supported your opponent, including American citizens who have donated to her campaign. Please tell us how you will circumvent the United States judicial process to accomplish this and where you intend to have all of these people imprisoned." As an aside, the moderator could add that a certain campaign donor in Madison, Wisconsin remains apprehensive about Trump's answer.

For Trump - Do you believe climate change is still a "hoax?" Hoax being defined as a deception. If it's in your opinion that it's a hoax what's your basis for your belief? For Harris - What's the plan

to ensure Social Security and Medicare solvency?

Trump 1) It has been almost a decade, whereby you indicated that you would provide a better health plan to Americans other than ObamaCare. You have provided nothing. What is the reason you abandoned one of your bigliest promises? 2) Everyone says that you, SIR, re a divider in chief. Your language is very inflammatory. What did you do during your previous administration to help bring people together? 3) the phone call you made to the secretary of state of Georgia is irrefutable. it happened. Could you clarify one thing.... did you want the secretary of state to manufacture the 13,000 votes, or that he switch 13,000 votes? Follow up.... why do you think this is ok? 4) You have used the term socialist and communist in describing Kamala and other non Maggots. Please define socialism and communism. 5) Trump is a rodent of many grievances and believes everyone is out to get him. This is not a new development. Given that he has been involved in approximately 3,500 filed lawsuits (relatively even as plaintiff and defendant) the recent cases should not be a surprise. You are a lightning rod of litigation. Do you, SIR, see any commonality? 6) Which advisors from your prior administration deserve the greatest praise for the success you believe you had? 7) You indicate that you know more than "the Generals". They have had significant amount of training and experience and are the world's finest. Given that you know more than they and you have had no training, should the military be dismantled and re-built from the ground up? 8) Immigration. What is the immigration needs of the country? You were able to thwart the work of James Lankford, one of the most esteemed members of the Senate, as a bi-partisan bill on immigration. Describe why your zeal to address immigration is other than performative?

Question for Kamala - who are you wearing? if you were a tree, what type would you be?
