My BIG debate night plan

This is my Super Bowl, people!

Welcome to DEBATE DAY!!!!

I will admit I didn’t think this day would come. I was VERY skeptical Joe Biden and Donald Trump (and their respective campaigns) would ever come to an agreement that would put them on a debate stage together.

But I am thrilled to be proven wrong!

I have tried to be thoughtful about how to cover the debate tonight. Here’s what I have come up with.

In advance of the debate, I am going to do a livestream at my YouTube channel where I will try to answer as many questions as I can before it all gets started. I will start this at 8 pm eastern and go for as long as there are good questions coming in OR until the actual debate starts at 9 pm.

Then comes the BIG SHOW.

During the debate itself, I am going to be LIVE CHATTING with PAID SUBSCRIBERS to this newsletter. I am doing it via the Substack chat feature, which I have experimented with before. (For paid subscribers, I will send you an email with a link to the chat around 8:30 pm eastern.)

Why do it this way? I believe that watching debates is a communal experience. I want to be able to share my thoughts (and my hilarious jokes) in real time. And hear from you all too! It will be like “Mystery Science Theater 3000” — but for politics!
