Kevin McCarthy can dance around the Truth all he wants. That would not change the fact. Donald Trump cannot win a General Election in 2024 and that's the fact. That's all that matters. Kevin McCarthy is going to lose his House Speakership anyway especially if the Republicans nominate Trump as their Flag bearer in 2024. McCarthy knows this as well

It's remarkable how loyal McCarthy is to Trump given that reality. You would think he might consider hedging his bets. But, no!

Given the state of the House Republicans, Speaker-in-name-only McCarthy has little choice. One word from Trump, and he knows there'll be a motion to vacate the chair which he will lose

It is remarkable indeed. But we only know how he feels publicly , who knows how he feels privately. After all he is politician.

Who else is he going to support? Unless he has a closet of Hooveresque tapes, he is beholden to the only gaggle of passion in the Republican party.

I wish that were true, but the truth is the candidate of both major parties, especially in a two-way race, can reasonably win. Though Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary by millions, he won the Electoral College vote and became president. Though he lost the popular vote to Biden by millions more, Biden only won the Electoral College vote by a few tens of thousands in a few states. Likewise, victory in 2024 is likely to come down to a few tens of thousands in these key battleground swing states. Any number of events could transpire to hand the Republican candidate the presidency, even if that's Trump. Wishing it weren't possible not only doesn't make it so, but can also undermine Biden's victory by peoples' complacency in the inevitability of Trump's defeat, just as it did in 2016. The possibility is very real. Our vigilance should remain commensurate with Trump's chances of winning, which if he's the Republican candidate, as all data seems to suggest he will be, is unfortunately is way higher than we would like to believe.

I wish there was a database keeping track of all the times Donald Trump told these anecdotes where everybody calls him “sir.”

There are wise people observing things in this political world of ours that identify that as Trump’s “tell” that the story he’s giving is completely made up.

My grandmother told similar stories, with similar tells. So when I started hearing Trump do this, it felt really familiar to me.

I would add, what about the tears in their eye?. Trump evokes tears from everyone, or so he says. People are particularly tearful when confronted with the injustices of the radical, Marxist, communist left.

The people in my grandmother’s stories were always “at the end if their rope,” or “crying their eyes out,” before they came to her-- the only person who could help them-- and she got ‘em back on the “straight and narrow.”

He definitely evokes tears from me...that too large a number of Americans can't see that the Wannabe Emporer wants to destroy our country.

Speaker-in-name-only McCarthy is a spineless worm. Always has been. Always will be. The notion that he's a "leader" is a sad joke.

Worm is too high on the evolutionary chain.

Yet, the most frightening fact is "My Kevin" is 3rd in line for the Presidency... Can you imagine what kind of President he would make?

Makes my head hurt...

“In an interview this afternoon with Breitbart News, the ultra-right news site, McCarthy suggested he had been somehow misquoted this morning”

I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not like CNBC records the stuff that’s said on their network.

In case they do, get the expungement team of Marge and Elsie on it and get to sorting Starbursts.

Simply amazed how spineless MyKevin is. Can’t wait until he loses the speakership and goes out with his tail between his legs. The GOP has quite a few spineless creatures in their midst and the fealty to Trump is sickening.

I return to my metaphor of the leak in the dyke. Kevin made a leak and now he is sticking his finger in the dyke to try to stop it. But the damage is done. Barr, Christie, Thune, Ada, Sununu,....the dyke is softening and will soon break and there will be a flood. Trump is in it for the money to pay his legal fees and when that becomes obvious the grift will end and he will drop out. (Take it from me. I'm the guy who predicted Tom Brady will retire this year....that's sarcasm in case you aren't sure).

RE: MyKevin Backstory

Cristo,

It looks like from pictures of MyKevin's sartorial splendor that he is 180 degrees away from the All-American-Sexual-Assault-Defender, Gym Jordan's Sears' 1978 collection.

That said...in your research can you track down how many pairs of knee pads House Leader(🤣) goes through on a monthly basis whether it's for kowtowing to the Defendant-In-Chief, or Madge "Dude Looks Like A Lady" Greene, or Butthead look-a-like "Gaslighting" Gaetz.

To be fair to the Speaker- on behalf of his conference, he has no choice but to be a Trump suckup. If he were to courageously speak the truth, Trump voters will exact revenge. Consider: Liz Cheney. Mark Sanford. Adam Kinzinger. Jeff Flake. Bob Corker. Fred Upton. Jamie Herrera Beutler. Peter Meijer. John Katko. And probably others…

That all is so sad. And proves to the public that most republicans are only worried about their jobs; which apparently is more important to them then their constituents. :(
