What these Republicans clearly refuse to see is that even if the Democrats had swallowed all the bile their dealings with McCarthy had brought up in them and tanked this motion we would be back here in a couple of weeks with even more Republicans trying to get rid of McCarthy, because he would have committed the cardinal sin of working with Democrats and relying on their support. What’s the point in that?
Trump is not my god - I don’t even want him to run. He had and had some good ideas and made inroads toward reversing the socialist slide we have been in. However his character has nothing to do with trusting Democrats who have been leading us down the path toward communism - not just socialism but a single party rule that decides what you can own where you can go where you should live ad madeum
Yeah, Ds are the ones trying to establish a fascist state. Well, it is consistent with what your god Trump has been saying. Oh, I forgot, you're not a Trumpy -- sure.
I am sure that at some point Speaker Emerita Pelosi implied that McCarthy might be able to have the help of Democrats, should a motion to vacate actually come up. But, when Kevin McCarthy went on national television on Sunday to blame Democrats for the potential shutdown despite Democrats staunch support for keeping the government open, I am sure that Pelosi realized that support for McCarthy was a fool’s errand..the man can NEVER be trusted to tell the truth or to keep a promise. We are well quit of him
"I am sure that at some point Speaker Emerita Pelosi implied that McCarthy might be able to have the help of Democrats, should a motion to vacate actually come up."
I'm sure too -- we know this because McCarthy told us so, and if we can't believe him, who can we believe (other than Trump, of course).
The Democrats are staunch supporters of keeping the government open because it’s their holdover government and a shutdown would make them defend their over spending
You know, the phrase 'over spending' is a meaningless catchall. Once you dig deep into the details of the US budget, you will see that the federal govt spends money in many ways to help its citizens, often the ones needing it the most due to old age, poverty, natural disasters, etc. Military spending is a huge portion of the budget, and could possibly be reined in a bit. Of course there is room for some trimming, but by and large the budget is at the level it needs to be. What needs to change is for revenues - like getting people to pay their tax liability and fair share - to catch up to a reasonable amount of spending.
And you have given us a PERFECT example of the Dunning Kruger Effect.
If your point is to make willfully ignorant comments, using a term like “socialist” as a dig like your narcissistic Cult Leader, you would be advised to take Abraham Lincoln’s advice: “Better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”
And how about all the All-American socialist programs that reflect the Christian tenets that America is supposedly built upon:
~ Social Security - semi-socialist, since we citizens pay into the program
[BTW - 1935 Republican "True Socialists" in the House voted 81- 14 in favor; Republican "fellow travelers" in the Senate voted 16-5.
~ Medicare - semi-socialist, since we citizens pay into the program
~ Medicaid - pure unadulterated socialism, paid by U.S. taxpayers to ensure American citizens are not dying from starvation or the elements
~ Public Education through 12th grade - semi-socialist, since homeowners with or without children attending school pay into the program. Renters' children pay nothing for schooling
~ Food Programs - combination personal and corporate socialism, where farmers are given subsidies to grow food and raise animals as a balance of giving the needy SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits.
"Conservative/Anti-Socialism folks seem to have an issue with the tenets of Jesus, of whom they want to force into the everyday running of the American government on all three (federal, state, local) levels.
When the Democrats take control of the House, as they will someday, those who screwed with Pelosi and Hoyer, should find that the plumbing in their offices no longer works and can’t be fixed for months due to lack of funds.
McCarthy going on Face the Nation and throwing Democrats under the bus when he knew Gaetz was about to strike was such an idiotic error. Why would they go to bat for you after that?
No surprise that the Dems are the scapegoat, in their minds. The GOP is poison and poisoning our country with their cultish agenda. It’s a total clown show.
The word “chutzpah” gets thrown around in political circles a lot. But I’m not sure if there’s a better example of it than a guy getting to the Speaker’s gavel by giving the arsonists in his own part a gassed up flamethrower pointed in his own direction, then be shocked, SHOCKED that one of them would pull that trigger and then turn around and blame the Democrats. He made this bed with full knowledge that he would burn in it. He’s a partisan to the bitter end and beyond.
A day without a quote or scene from Spinal Tap is a day without sunshine.
Little did Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest realize how prescient they were 25 years ago when they wrote the lyric that encapsulates Trump and MAGAites.
The removal of MyKevin from the Speakership is the fault of the House Democatic Party because its members don't care enough for the good of the country!
Obviously they weren't going to blame Butthead Gaetz, who brought up the vote, or the Egotistical Eight, who withheld their vote becuase they were righteously testing how much the Dems loved the institution of the House.
Wait. Did McCarthy really have any other good option in January 2023? Other than a united Republican caucus (HA!), his only other working majority would be all the Democrats plus the 30 or so “Biden republicans“ and/or the R “problem solvers”. Can you imagine the grief he’d have taken from the Trump/Fox/Newsmax/conservative coalition? He’d have been cursed as “Nancy Pelosi 2.0” and the “latest Democrat speaker”. He’d be totally discredited as a Republican. I could see a viable primary challenge in his district
The person missing in this conversation is Donald Trump. Trump left McCarthy to hang. This is after he McCarthy helped to polish his image by going to kiss his ring in Maralago after Trump instigated January 6th insurrection. Typical Trump
While the House Republicans are staging a public execution of the Speaker they elected less than a year ago, across the Hill, the Senate was swearing in the ONLY black member of the Senate and the first open lesbian in history. Quite the study in contrasts.
I was told by a House staffer a few years ago when McCarthy became Minority Leader, "The Republicans elected a moron to a position of leadership."
Since then, everything Kevin McCarthy did has reinforced the accuracy of my friend's evaluation.
Can anyone even begin to imagine what Nancy Pelosi -- currently Speaker Emerita -- would have done to a member of the Democratic Caucus if they had attempted such a coup?
I it seems you forgot the word "female" in your reference to Black Senate members, otherwise it would have been news to Cory Booker (D-NJ) and StepinFetchit Scott (R-SC)
The goal all along was to make government stop (shutdown coming in a few weeks), Tuperville is doing the same in the senate, so TFG can campaign that only he can get government working again, and it sounds correct.
We need to stop the articles on MCCarthy and who’s fault was this and focus on the fact that the govt is not able to function. The bad guys are succeeding!!!!
It's precisely this shill persona that taints all politicians. Glib and glad-handing, someone described Kev. Well, that might be okay for campaigning but not for actually governing. Grow up, Kevin.

It is a sim to work with Democrats who about as trustworthy as Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.
What’s so bad about holding out for real reform. Shutdowns are always the bogeyman that never hurts anyone in the end.
"It is a sim to work with Democrats who about as trustworthy as Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown."
Yes, the only trustworthy one is your god Trump, the epitome of what it means to be a "Christian".

I couldn't wait to see what you had to say today on the matter of McCarthy's demise...and you've said it very well. Thanks, Chris...great delivery.
Thanks, Joy.

And in actuality, Republicans are just as happy to spend on an equal tear, even after lowering taxes on the ultra rich.
Spoken like a true socialist

NEED I GO ON???

Good riddance Kevin! Maybe Trump will give you a job haha.
There might be an opening for IT Director at Mar-A-Lago...

Yes, but what would the downside have been?

They should have pushed Matt Gaetz and his groupies out of their offices instead of Nancy and Steny. But they are petty and childish.
