He is our best option...period!!! Doubts about his age don't really bother me. The terrifying thought of being forced byTrump to view without a way to counteract his deviousness again is not in my wheelhouse.

Joe Biden is the only person on the planet who has *already* beaten Donald Trump. He has a record of beating Trump. That’s enough for me. When you’re trying to kill a vampire, are you going to hire Van Helsing or some promising next-generation vampire killer? You’re going to hire the one with the proven track record. Biden’s our guy.

The Van Helsing reference is off the charts. Next time Trump calls him “lazy Joe” or some such nonsense, the White House should respond with something like, “No, you mean Van Helsing” and have some sign or graphic with a pitchfork and a stake and Biden’s face with the aviators on and Trump in the reflection!!

Thank God for Biden. He needs to finish the job of keeping Trump out of the White House for good. He sees the threat that Trump poses to American Democracy and world peace. Biden did it in 2020 and he will do it again in 2024!!

Biden was my third choice in the primary for 2020 but when he gained the nomination, I voted for him. He has exceeded my expectations and turned out to be just the leader that we need in these fraught times. He has a proven track record of beating Trump, and deserves a chance to do it again. I will gladly vote Biden in 2024….because it means that we will still be voting in 2028.

He was my third choice as well. I now consider him the most effective president of my lifetime (and I was born during Eisenhower).

I absolutely agree with you (though I only date to 1972). He is actually doing fantastic things that benefit all Americans. Objectively, he is doing an outstanding job.

Chris, a great read, thank you. I, for one, thought that was the case all along but hearing it now out of Biden’s mouth, confirms it. Have to admit that before the 2020 election, I thought that Trump losing would end this disgrace to the country. However, we now know that Trump isn’t going away and Biden feels he can beat Trump again. I pray that it works out for Biden or this country will be in a constitutional crisis and may never recover, or at least in my lifetime.

The only way Trump is going away is when they carry him out feet first and plant him six feet under. Which cannot come too soon!

Ditto to every piece of what you wrote!

When I was telling her about Biden's comment last night, my daughter (35) interrupted me to say, "Don't care. I'm voting for him."

I am assuming that “him” means Biden, right?

Yes. I was an English teacher, and there's his name as the antecendent. :)

I think it’s been clear for quite awhile, based upon some of the events you’ve mentioned, Chris, that the primary driver behind Biden running for a second term has ALWAYS been because he sees himself as the ONLY one that can beat Trump (and we both agree that that’s true).

That he’s said it out loud is significant, but hardly surprising.

Now, if the Biden Team would start TRULY focusing on making the case that A) Trump would be the end of American Democracy; and B) Biden is MORE than “up” to the challenges of the office and will be for the next 4 years, I know there would be less of the pernicious feeling of impending doom and we could all breath a sigh of relief.

Thanks for yet another great “take” on what’s going on in our nation, Chris. You’re worth MORE than every penny of my subscription!

And his bet had better pay off, or it's bye-bye American democracy.

All true, but I don't even know if it qualifies as a gaffe from Biden. Everyone knows that the only reason he's running for a second term is because of Trump. And I don't really think it's a bad thing to just openly acknowledge that. When it's really, really important to not lose, you do whatever gives you the best odds of winning. Even if it's not going to be splashy.

All too easy now for the Trump side to hammer that Biden will resign once he wins ... that he doesn’t want to do the job and that Kamala will be President

Biden is completely ineffective and has accomplished nothing in his term so far. Bidenomics is not supported by most democrats, our national debt is at an all-time high and we have a severe crisis at the border. He is also very likely guilty of influence peddling with his crack-head son with substantial evidence mounting daily. If the Bidens were Trumps, they would be the poster family for everything wrong with U.S. politics. Joe has fed from the public trough for over 40 years with no real successes to point to other than successful reelections.

True trolling. Let's try not to bite.

Really? Among his MANY accomplishments was the infrastructure bill and getting Medicare to negotiate drug prices, goals of previous presidents where they fell short. In fact Trump's many "Infrastructure Weeks" became a running joke.
