“Tell people you admire why you admire them. Make a point to spend time with people you like.” The absolute best comment in your piece today. We should all take it to heart and make it a part of our lives. We, individually, and the world would be better, happier, if we did.
Thank you Chris for this new feature, People I Like. In one fell swoop, you introduce So What readers to an admirable person, journalist Mark Leibovich, AND model for us how we can contribute to better mental health for ourselves and a more positive culture for our USA. Contact someone you know and admire and schedule some time with them to talk about life.
I read this thinking it was a preamble to some Q&A with Mark, laying the groundwork to get his take on things. Because, like you, I like him and read his pieces. But, maybe that’s for another time. When he’s on an MSNBC panel I stop and listen. And I also like that you like him too, validating my good judgement in being a fan of Chris Cillizza.
A perfect choice for first in a series positive feature. I have always enjoyed Mark Leibovich’s writing, especially the story featuring Mike Allen and Harry Reid. Will look at the others. Plus he is an amusing and thoughtful TV guest . Keep this feature.
Mark Leibovich is one of my favorite writers and I love that you spotlighted him.
Obviously, The Town and Thank You For Your Servitude are excellent, but if you're a football fan who wants to know what makes the league tick, I highly recommend Big Game. I loved it.
Thanks so much for this new feature. Mark Liebovich is fabulous. I was very bummed when he left the Times. You should also feel honored. I can’t subscribe to everything. I chose your Substack over the Atlantic. Keep up the good work.
Kudos for branching out with different types of content. Leibovich is a great start. Consider Anne Applebaum for this type of piece or an interview. She is one of the most authoritative voices on the right wing shift in certain European governments that you touched on the other day as well as an expert re Putin. She has new book coming out ,so is likely available. ( No, I'm not a paid publicist)
Love this new feature, Chris. I also am a big Mark Leibovich fan. Glad you shone a light on him👍🏼
