Chris- I'm an incredibly concerned Democrat and desperately want them to replace Biden. Yesterday I did something I'd never done before, I called my senator ( Chris Murphy CT) and voiced my concerns to his admin. My question is, does this actually do anything?

Do politicians really listen on these vital matters if enough of their constituents call/text/e-mail?

Senator Murphy would be a great candidate. He is very pragmatic. It seems, however, this highly charged election discourages putting forth do me one with a national voting record.

Decades ago I worked for a senator who required us to give a report every couple weeks on how many people contacted the office on various issues, and where they stood. I doubt it changed his views much but he wanted to know. And if they were prominent people or supporters, we forwarded the letter to the AA. I had a friend who worked for Sen. Lugar who read dozens of letters a week. This was pre-internet. One call doesn't make a difference -- just like one vote -- but you're not alone.

No question, Chris, but given all the bad news of late, tell me something positive to believe in.

Biden drops, Harris and Whitmer become the Dem ticket.

Chris, we were traveling back from Tennessee on Sunday after the holiday weekend (and it turned into a nightmare with weather-related issues, but won't bore you with that). Anyway, we saw a boy with his family at the Knoxville airport wearing a Trump 2024 hat. He was maybe about 15 years old...definitely looked too young to be a voter. When I was 15, I didn't follow politics AT ALL. I was into sports, music, journalism...and occasionally girls lol. Here's my question for you, though. What conversations do you have with your kids about the current state of politics? Do you try to tell them that these are not normal times? What would you do or say if one of your boys came home wearing a Trump hat (or a Biden hat for that matter, but I don't think I've ever seen one)?

The political news is just too damned depressing, so I'm going to go with a sports question: You've just been given the power to change ONE rule in Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey. What rule(s) are you changing, and why?

Hi Chris - Do you think that Democratic politicians in Congress don't really fear a Trump presidency à la Jared Golden? If they really believed that Trump was an existential threat to democracy, wouldn't more of them publicly say that Biden needs to stand aside for another nominee who would have a better shot against Trump?

Greetings Chris ~

Thank you for your inspired work, look forward to your perspective every single day.

While we didn't quite get anywhere with the *Arnold for Speaker* notion, it would be great to know what you think about this next idea, please.

Supposing that President Biden is not the nominee, Adam Kinzinger for VP. He could scoop up the Republicans who oppose Trump and Project 2025, but can't bring themselves to punch a traditional Democratic ticket. Independebts will have an escape hatch that isn't RFKjr. Kinzinger seems a reasonable and kind person. We are much in need of reason and kindness about now!

What think you?

An entirely new way to get there?

I would love to see Kinzinger as Veep.

would the 11th amendment preclude Marco Rubio, since both Trump and Rubio are FL residents? also (old question) if Trump did happen to win, would the 22nd amendment be an issue, considering he claims to have won 2020, and this would be the third time he was elected?

My current question is around Biden’s legacy. I would guess that this is incredibly important to him. Do you know of anyone making the case that - if he insists on running against Trump and loses - he will be remembered for nothing else. All of his years of public service will be forgotten. It’s hard for me to believe that Biden would risk becoming the Jimmy Carter of the 21st Century…

Best case scenario? Biden totally bombs his press conference today. Gracefully withdraws from the race. Makes complete and unmitigated endorsement of Harris, including granting her all of the campaign cash to clear the room of any other potential candidates. Harris picks a young and vibrant VP candidate, think Whitmer/Buttigieg/Shapiro. Beats Trump in a landslide. Trump eventually goes to prison. (Or Putin/Xi/Kim Jung Un grants him asylum).

If Biden decides (or already has decided) to drop out do you think he will strategically time it around the republican convention next week? For instance he could decide to do it on Monday to take away some coverage of the convention.

That's been my thought, if he drops next week, no one will pay any attention to RNC.

Why is it so difficult for Democratic leadership to give the voters an honest assessment of President Biden’s capability?( We only see Biden on television, usually scripted and teleprompted, and unless he has a complete meltdown as on debate night, we are clueless except that he appears and sounds more frail. They are in a position to tell us how he actually functions, and we don’t seem to be able to get a coherent answer.)

Here’s a question that maybe you—a guy with huge public presence —can answer:

Why doesn’t Biden just go have a neurological workup and release results?

Is it a public image thing?

Doing so… and passing … would solve a lot of his public perception problem.

It screams the fact that he knows results won’t be pretty. And doesn’t want people to know. Or do you have another angle as to why he refuses.

Here is a legit question….has a sitting president ever NOT been the nominee for his second term?

Hello Chris. Which of these three events is most likely?

England beats Spain on Sunday;

Trump picks JD Vance for VP next week;

Biden is confirmed as the nominee at next month’s convention.

Two short ones: do you personally think Biden should drop out? And has anyone ever told you that you resemble Kevin Spacey, who even though a creep, is attractive.
