Hi Chris! Thanks for all you do! Do you think the Democrats should message around how Trump has had so many lawsuits and troubles with the law for decades so how could it be political?? He wasn’t even in politics until 2015 or so! He has a history of trying to skirt the law for years! Also, would it help to message how SO many people around him are convicted felons? He hangs out with and employs criminals! Might that kind of message work do you think?
Hi Chris, do you think that there are any realistic steps moving forward that could be taken (by Congress, POTUS, etc…) to hold our Supreme Court justices accountable in ethical terms?
What has become of QAnon?? I know some diehards are still communicating with each other, but has anyone heard from Q recently? Q played a big role in the country's craziness and he seems, mercifully, to have disappeared.
What do you think about Mike Johnson appointing Ronny Jackson and Scott Perry to the House Intelligence committee? Nice of him to do these little favors for Trump.
Very slight inklings that Trump's conviction might really be playing into people's perceptions of him - which seems extraordinary how long he's been around and how much of a known quality he is. But even I, no Trump fan from the beginning, find myself looking at him a bit more negatively with the subconscious internalization of 'convicted criminal'. I think this may be more important than many give credence - what do you think these days?
I think it would be beneficial to all of your subscribers and potential subscribers if you fleshed-out you intentions with this blog.
Earlier this week (in your piece "The 27 must-see lines from Joe Biden's Time magazine interview") you dismissively shut down two commenters, as follows:
1) Let me guess: You hate Trump. And you love reading my breakdowns of Trump speeches. But, you don't want to read them on Biden because he is perfect and can't be criticized? if so, this is not the newsletter for you.
2) You disagree because it doesn't fit your world view. You hate Trump. So you love to see him mocked -- as heavily as possible. You like Biden and so can't deal with him being mocked -- even lightly. Massive double standard.
That isn't engagement with your followers, it's giving them a giant middle-finger for expressing an opinion that doesn't fit in with your view on things. If Trump gets re-elected, that's the system we'll be living under ("my way or the highway, or jail, or concentration camps, or executions"). Are you auditioning for a position in the next Trump administration? Because your replies to these commenters certainly gives that impression.
You take reader criticism about as well as Dumpty Trumpy takes jokes at a Correspondent's Dinner. The fir on your back goes up and you immediately go into a defensive crouch.
If you don't want subscribers to comment, close off all comments and exist within your own enclosed loop.
If you only want comments reinforcing how great you are, all you need to do is dye your hair orange, get a spray tan, and switch to an all-McDonald's diet. Or be an elected Republican in Washington who would rather lick boot and demagogue instead of doing anything productive.
If I want a sarcastic take on the truth, I watch The Daily Show. I'd rather not read it in your blog. If that's the route you're going in, perhaps your blog and I aren't a great fit.
Yes, I hate Trump; everything he is, everything he represents, his narcissism, his immaturity, and the fact that he'd destroy America without giving it a second thought if that was the means to the end of satisfying his ego and delivering retribution against any and all that were against him.
Yes, I think your criticism of Biden's interview was a bit harsh in places. It was also very balanced and accurate in others.
Yes, I think it's a terrible reflection on America that these are the two "best" candidates we could find to run the country.
You express your opinions, so readers should be able to express theirs. I think you're taking it a bit too personally. I'd like to think that the folks who provide critical comments don't hate you personally - I certainly don't. When it comes to the blog, try adopting the Vulcan ritual of Kolinhar - tune out the emotions.
I'm just so incredibly confused about what's happening in Florida, with Aileen Cannon "ripping up" the schedule - I mean, how is this even possible? Isn't there some sort of oversight to remove her as a clearly partisan and biased judge? How is it someone/something hasn't dealt with this yet?
As a Canadian, I'm quite fascinated (and actually very afraid) of what's happening.
I'm also wondering what happens with the three remaining trials against Trump in the event he is NOT elected in November - will they go actually forward? I imagine if he's elected, he's home free and even more emblazoned to continue his assault on your democracy.
What is the breaking point for the GOP with Trump? If he loses yet another election, would that do it? If he loses the election and is then convicted in some or all of his other pending cases, would that do it? Or will the GOP nominate an imprisoned 81-year-old Trump in 2028 and try again with this habitual loser?
The Republicans and the far right are chipping away at women’s rights and personal autonomy over their body. The best example is of course Roe, and now talk of contraception restrictions and banning IVF. What are your thoughts on female law makers seeking similar limitations over men’s bodies. Elle Woods from Legally Blonde offered an interesting counterpoint in the classroom scene. I realize it is unlikely, but tempting to consider.
Re; the Border...Is there any chance this actually "hurts" Biden, instead of helping? Could some voters (such as me) look at this as too little too late, and a show of weakness that he did it now, right before the election, which seems gimmicky and reactionary, instead of say 12-18 months ago from a position of strength?

Thankfully, mercifully disappeared.🙂

Good grief!
I’m really starting to get the “Dems shoulda picked another presidential candidate” feeling. Are we too late?
How about the Republicans picking another presidential candidate instead of nominated a CONVICTED FELON. Biden is going to win in November Mike
I know that you could give dozens of examples, but has hypocrisy just become the GOP brand?

Given the shambling, rambling performance by Donald J Trump in speeches and interviews of late, do you really think that the debates will go forward?
Why isn’t the Biden campaign using the label best suited for Trump: Facist Felon?
Why did Sarah Huckabee Sanders fall out of the Veepstakes so quickly.
Was she ever in them?
Fair point. I'll amend my question: why isn't she a part of the Veepstakes? She was loyal to Trump.
No doubt she has been loyal. I just don't think Sanders or Stefanik is attractive enough for Trump, but I could be wrong.

Not exactly a burning question but here goes - a 2-parter:
1) How much are guest commentators prepped ahead of time with the questions they are asked?
2) Why are 4-5 people on a panel needed for every story?
Thanks!
