“If you can support someone who attempted to overturn an election (and that was just the worst of many disqualifying things), then your tribalism has overwhelmed your judgment. And you have demonstrated that you, too, are unfit. Even worse, you’re normalizing what Trump did.”

That’s a tweet from Sarah Longwell of Bulwark. I can’t say it any better than that. If Hogan and Sununu are going to engage in magical thinking where they know Trump isn’t going to be the nominee they’re part of the problem.

The Republican Party never en masse came out and denounced Trump for the Big Lie about the election. In fact, many joined in and gave it air even after the attack on January 6th. Looking at you Elise Stefanik. And so many others.

As long as they don’t repent for that original sin Trump is going to be with them. And what’s undoubtedly true is if you ask them, even now, if Biden/Harris won in a free and fair election they won’t say yes. Once again, turning to my rep ES as an example, she put out a statement that congratulated Biden and Harris on being “sworn in.”

That’s the sort of thing that enables the death grip Trump has on them. And then, if you do tell the truth you’re with Cheney, Kinzinger, Katko et al. They have to all go at once but they’re never going to.

If Trump gets indicted, better yet convicted, I’m looking forward to any non-Trump GOP nominee answering the question of whether they’ll pardon him. That should be a fun dance.

Feckless cowards, all of them...............

What's interesting to me is that Trump isn't even really a Republican, at least in the true sense. Yet he has bamboozled the party. Even if they agreed with some or much of his policy, he's a little too cray-cray to be leading the country again, right?

How can one take the supposed "moderate conservative" Repubs seriously when they have no backbone when it comes to supporting Trump.

They are rank opportunists, who care more about their political career than the danger from the Insurrectionist-In-Chief.

They are all spineless cowards. They may have been bamboozled in 2016 but since then they should be opened eyed and denounce him once and for all. How could any of them, in good conscious want him as the nominee in 2024? Party over country. Disgusting. I don’t care which party you are with, you most probably won’t agree with everything they do. However, it should always be country before party. They are all complicit in this revolting situation. Disclaimer: Cheney, Kinzinger, Katko, etc. are totally respected in my book.

Party Over Country should actually be the GOP motto. Can we make it so?

Sununu is a hypocritical, facile coward. Recall that after calling litter box fascist Senatorial candidate in New Hampshire unfit, he later endorsed him! This is not first time Sununu said he would vote for Trump. Sununu could stay in Granite State.

I know they don’t want to come out against him for fear of losing their seat, but why would they not just go get another job with a hedge fund or something??

And here I thought Hogan had some balls. He, like all the rest, are hoping against hope for either an indictment, or a massive heart attack, to give them the opportunity to "run." When, in truth, these spineless excuses for leaders, have been running all their lives. Running scared, that is. Afraid of the schoolyard bully. Sununu is just like his old man. All mouth with nothing to back it up.

Republicans ever expecting Trump to do anything but what is in his self-interest is just hysterical
