Chris,

This is the top of your game...taking the Defendant-In-Chief's word salad and offering you insights.

Doesn't get any better than that!!!

Thank you!

You ask how can it be that (14. “We have the most corrupt president in the history of our country, and we have the most incompetent, simultaneously, the most incompetent president.”)

See Trump administration (2016-2020)

I would bet my bottom dollar that Donald John Trump has never once in his entire life loaded, ran, or unloaded a dishwasher.

Expand full comment

Or he hired someone to do it and stiffed the kid on the payment.

If only that were true. My bet is he heard someone somewhere complain about water saving appliances, and about the lower or no phosphate detergent, conflated them, and it struck a chord with his cult of rally attendees, and since the line gets yuks, he repeats it in places were the slavering mob can't react and it falls flat, like his chat with Kudrow.

I will grant Trump one thing, his reptilian brain does ferret out lines that connect with his crowd.

I always think of this when he goes on about toilets, showers, etc.

The appliances now are 10X better than the were decades ago. My dishwasher is amazing.

My theory is that it's like the CFL bulbs vs. LED

When CFL bulbs came out they sucked. They took forever to turn on and were annoying. Then LED came along and they're 100X better than incandescent

If your thought of energy saving bulbs was CFL and you didn't update your knowledge to the current bulbs you would rant about how terrible the energy saving bulbs are

Meanwhile all of us in modern times would look at you like you were insane and have no idea what you're talking about

Trump's idea of water saving appliances is the CFL equivalent and I can't imagine these complaints resonate with anyone in the real world

On the dishwashers. When we moved in here, it was a rental, so we stripped all the (icky) appliances, and my wife insisted on a Bosch. It uses 5 gallons a load, and that is a LOT less than hand washing. It does an amazing job of cleaning the dishes, and it is well neigh silent in doing so.

Our house was built in the 60's and back then it seems that there were no lights in any room, a couple of the bedrooms had dome lights, but the main living areas used stand lamps (presumably?) and we had cans and LED's added to every room. We use so much less electricity than the family that was in here before us, but all these power and water saving appliances/lamps are just like being in prison or Siberia.

I also have a Bosch and the only way to know it’s running is to see if the light is on

When I was a kid if the dishwasher was running you couldn’t hear the tv

Everything just works better now and there’s no downside

32. “They're giving, like, this much water. They showed me in a glass. They would come to complain about it, and I totally freed it up, washing machines, dishwashers.”

This sounds like Captain Queeg losing it on the stand in the Caine Mutiny.

Chris, your "lines you have to see" feature is one of my favorites. I look forward to it every time.

Thanks, Andy. They are really fun to write too!

Trump thinks Biden is mentally incapacitated. Wow!. Biden beat him in 2020 and will beat him again in 2024

#34. During his 2016 campaign, Trump spoke about the poor infrastructure, and how bad the airports were, and how he was going to pass an infrastructure bill to fix it. Well, with the majority in both the house and the senate, he never did. But Joe Biden did pass an infrastructure bill!

I am amazed, Bob, that no one who supports him (still) doesn't say: You promised all of these things but where are the actual results. It never happens!

Unfortunately, many of his followers, ignore facts, logic and common sense

I love when you do these! But Lord help us, the people who need to read this will NEVER read this and will repeat him word for word.

Have you ever considered doing stand-up comedy? You are naturally comedic and I love it!

I still cannot imagine how anyone could vote for him. We're screwed.

Wow! Trump is getting even more incoherent than before! I think we could follow his mental decline if we laid your “X worst things Trump said” columns end to end.

As he goes along in these interviews, he clearly just starts to say whatever he wants. I mean, he did an EXTENDED dishwasher riff toward the end. Like, WTF?

He can’t control himself!

Chris - did it feel to you Trump's stuff was below par, even for him? Lot of repeat, nothing new, mostly old and overused material? Incredibly, if feels kind of "SAD"

Thanks for the post

Mike, he is very much a broken record -- he has like 10-ish lines that he always goes to no matter what the question is. What's fascinating about the Kudlow interview is Larry is trying to steer Trump to talk about the economy and other subjects and Trump just blasts away on whatever he wants.

Has to make your 'job' that much harder...

Trump is like a Journey/Def Leppard/Styx concert. Fans really want to hear the old hits!!

And will accept second-rate musicians.

I don't envy you having to sit through that interview. I wouldn't last 20 seconds. Make that 5: the moment he opens his mouth, I'm gone.

Love when you do these! When I was working in an office, I’d read these during lunch when you did them for CNN. I’d be giggling to myself as I can hear you saying it and what Trump said was so ridiculous and sad, yet to “hear” you say it, it nearly became a comedy. He makes no sense at all. Ever.

😅😂🤣. I love these columns!

Thanks for subjecting yourself to that, Chris.

I wish I knew what Trump was saying when Kudlow was sitting there with that forced smile in the photo. I’m guessing it was too insane even for him.

For someone whose freedom of speech is being stifled so, Trump manages to babble publicly pretty incessantly. Except that I guess his lawyers managed to squelch that big takedown of the charges he was going to do on Monday. And I assume he’s going to use having to surrender as an excuse to skip the debate. Both are major disappointments.

It’s weird how Trump is taking the slings and arrows for me, you and all Americans (except the far left Democrats, RINOs, racist prosecutors and other haters). He never mentions his co-conspirators, tho. Is it a witch hunt against all of them, too.
