On the eve of what is expected to be a sweeping, cross-country victory today on Super Tuesday, former President Donald Trump traveled to Richmond, Virginia to rally support for his candidacy.
Trump’s speech came amid reporting that “top advisers are trying — with some early success — to steer former President Trump to focus more on the border and the economy, and less on old grievances and personal drama.”
Wanting to test that theory, I went through Trump’s speech line-by-line. I picked out the stuff you need to see below.
This close reading of Trump takes considerable time and energy. But I think it’s critically important since the best way to know what he will do if reelected is to listen to what he says he will do!

“We win Virginia, we win it a hundred percent. It’s over. The election would be over, so let’s do it right?”
[narrator voice] Trump lost Virginia by 10 points in 2020. And away we go!
“Over the past week, we’ve been sort of in a rocket. We’ve been launching like a rocket to the Republican nomination.”
“Crooked, sleepy Joe. Crooked, sleepy. I like that. I like that. Crooked, sleepy. Maybe you’ll call them both. I took the name off Hillary, crooked. I want to use it for Joe because I thought it was very accurate. But I got rid of sleepy and sleepy was good, but how about crooked, sleepy Joe? You could do a double.”
“You could do a double.”
“I mean, we don’t need your vote. We want you to get out though and vote in big margins, and we want to send that little freight train going along because it’s going to be the big day.”
Amazing! Trump tells voters “we don’t need your vote” on Super Tuesday because he is going to win anyway. What a message!
“The New York Times came out with a poll. They just announced it. Devastating for The New York Times. They don’t like the way that… Well, I give them credit.”
Donald Trump is OBSESSED with the Times. Always has been. Cares deeply about what they say and think. And this is the poll he is referencing — showing him at 48% to 43% for Joe Biden.
