Really? Mark Penn?

I not sure the parallels with Carter, Clinton, and Bush hold up as all were open nominations in cycles that their respective party's were challengers, rather than incumbents.

As far as the GOP goes, Trump is viewed more of an incumbent President (especially in the MAGA wing) which explains much of his dominant lead, beyond the rally around effects of his NY indictment.

Like they said 7 years ago: Trump is a different kind of candidate. DeSantis is not.

I beg to differ...DeDe is different, he abhors retail politics. He was elected governor with tons of TV and radio ads on FOX outlets.

His rallies excluded glad handing, which would have had him meet people.

A total technocrat narcissist, who hates the people he purports to represent.

Considering the responses from the foreign press about the Wannabe Mussolini, an English business leader questioned how he was elected governor.

I realize the Brits don't have an equivalent office, but the point being made was that DeDe doesn't have the chops for retail politics.

The reason he has even low numbers is the strong cadre of "cut-off-your-nose-to-spite-your-face" contingent who care only about "sticking it to the Libs" while their actual needs are not addressed.

In this case he is running against a cult figure. I’m wondering if he can de-program enough of the base to get the nomination.

DeSantis is a low energy, mannequin grin, mobster style baggy suit wearing loser. The major donors have left the primary race because of the silly culture wars and that leaves only the small donors to take up the slack, and Trump owns them. Unless something major happens to Trump, this will be a boring primary season.

How much does social media, and the media landscape in general impact this race. It certainly wasn't the factor historically as it is now.

Still beating up on DeSantis....

Please leave this guy alone and let him get in the race and see what happens. You did not point out the poll that came out over the weekend that showed DeSantis beating Joe Biden and Trump losing to Joe Biden. DeSantis has plenty of time to come back and come back he will.

I suppose what Penn says is technically possible in a his guess is as good as anyone’s sort of way. It’s nice, for his friends and family, to know that he’s still alive. I thought maybe Hillary had added him to the Clinton Death List.

DeSantis and and others are surely going to get Trump on the debate stage and get him to answer questions about January 6, 2020 election denial and all his legal troubles
