Trump will never go away. And even when he dies, how many days will it take for the word to get out? He's been so secretive about his health over the years. Has he ever released a legitimate doctor's report? I could also see Lindsey Graham and Stephen Miller driving a deceased Trump around the country ala "Weekend at Bernie's" pretending that he's still alive.

Cmon man! That’s our current president, you see him this weekend! His presidency is in complete violation of the 25th amendment. Who’s running this country?? Not this guy for sure!

He'll die in prison or wherever he's allowed "exile".

He will HAVE to declare his candidacy for 2028 and he'll do so before his criminal sentencing on Nov. 26 so he can claim it's "election interference."

I'm onboard with the "kingmaker" scenario. Trump will never admit defeat, but I suspect that he's having to face the reality of the aging process, clearly seeing that he won't be capable of running a high-energy campaign 4 years hence. So he will be positioning himself to select the next front man, with that individual fully dependent upon Trump's favor, unable to chart an independent campaign.

Trump would only care about being a kingmaker if he thought he controlled the king, and he clearly sees only the "reality" he has constructed in his sick mind. He will never accept defeat or acknowledge any weakness, physical or mental. The single problem we face now is that he could easily be headed back to the White House, which speaks to our national decay. To say that this would be the end of America is not hyperbole.

I think we know he will try to play kingmaker for Don Jr. That's the future of the party.

Agreed 💯. He will be the “kingmaker” until he dies or until his cognitive decline worsens even more…

This seems to be a good time to bring up Chris’ commitment to write a column about Trump’s flip-flops, to pair with the Kamala column a couple weeks ago. And I’d like to suggest another one, to answer the general theme that Kamala isn’t putting out policy plans. I guess a commitment to 3M houses, 50K tax write-off for small businesses, and 5K child tax credit don’t count. The new idea is Trump’s attempts at policy definition. I’d offer these for consideration: his well-publicized answer to a question requesting specificity on helping with child care; when asked about manufacturing, he went on a riff about nuclear weapons, and the idea of turning a big Canadian faucet to give LA all the water it needs. Maybe there are policy nuggets in there I missed.

He’ll remain an agitator, peddling his lies and propaganda to whoever will listen to him. Until the day he dies we will not be rid of this parasite.

ANYBODY who believes that he will step aside is really not paying attention. 😳

Trump is already showing signs of cognitive decline. In 4 years there’s no way he’ll have the mental faculties to run for office.

It would be difficult to determine which 5 of his statements is the most ridiculous. If Biden had said any of the idiotic things Trump as said, especially recently, he would be in an Asisted Living facility.

In which you casually ignore that he and the GOP are spending at least as much time, effort, and money trying to delegitimize the results of 2024 so they can try to violently seize power, as they spend on trying to win the election.

Trump is not worried about losing, because he has plans for the days after Nov 5 when his followers who have infiltrated polling places will find ballot after ballot that they claim is fraudulent. We are looking forward to months of litigation before Kamala Harris walks up to CJ John Robert’s and takes the oath of office as the new President of the United States. Hunker down. It’s going to be a long haul.

We need to be prepared for that scenario.

When I heard that he would not run, I started laughing that anyone would believe that statement. He's going to be like Harold Stassen from Minnesota and will run until he dies. Remember, Stassen also did a combover and dyed his hair as well. 😉🤣😂

Never mind the fact that he wants to create a dynasty of Trump. So we all know who will take over once DonOLD is done - Don Jr. or Eric will be next in line, then likely Barron. Forget Ivanka and Lara because they are women.

If you think the Constitution bars such things, think again. Since when has Trump ever supported the Constitution when it is in his way?

When I read these lines of the interview yesterday, my first thought was that it was the most un-Trump-like thing I'd ever heard him say. Unbelievable, of course, but the real question is: why did he say it? His whole ethos is based on projecting strength at all times, and he's never before even hinted at the possibility that he could 'legitimately' lose an election. So why say this now? To try to seem less extreme for those 'undecided voters?'

I agree that if he is still alive, Trump will campaign again in 2028. Even from prison. The question is, how much support will he get? I think even Republicans will be sick of him losing all the time. Of course it is way too early to know who could replace him as a nominee.

Can you imagine the campaign ads for another run? Third times a charm? Vote Republican- vote the losing team! I mean, that’s a heavy lift!

The Republican Party as I knew and supported it for nearly 6 decades is dead and gone. Trump and his minions are in full control and will NEVER give up power. For the first time in my life, I’m voting for a Democrat for president. One whose many policies I oppose. Sorry state of affairs.

I actually think he means because he never says something like it. He always says, well I’ll win so what’s the difference? But he didn’t.
