This makes the days of not paying Social Security on your household employees seem silly.

Chris- We just elected a convicted felon who tried to steal an election and has to pay more money than any of us will make in 5 lifetimes for lying about raping a woman. Do you really need to ask if political rules apply?

I KNOW they don't apply to Trump. The question is whether they apply to people in his orbit!

I think that is also clear they don't. Marjorie Taylor Greene can harass a school shooting survivor and rant about lasers, no issue. Lauren Boebert can grope her partner in public, no issue. Matt Gaetz can "allegedly" have sex with minors, no issue. The list goes on and on. If you are a Republican there are no standards that matter anymore, only fealty to Trump. Herschel Walker was about the most unqualified person to run for a Senate seat in recent memory and he got 48% of the vote because he is a Republican and Trump backed him.

I think from Trump's poit of view, having fellow sexual deviants in his government is a feature, not a bug. Given the spinelessness of most of the GOP, this deviant will most likely get confirmed. The US electorate has determined there is nothing to prevent them from electing reprobabtes.

As Trump himself is a convicted sexual offender, he wants to force the Senate to confirm folks like Hegseth(and Gaetz) in order to demonstrate to the American people that these kinds of issues are not important, that even the United States Senate is willing to overlook sexual impropriety, and that the real problem isn’t nasty men who prey on women, but rather pet-eating immigrants or women who want agency over their own bodies.

Can you believe the sentence President Trump received! O my, finally got him! O wait, suspended till 2029 and certainly will be reversed on appeal in the meantime. Lawfare didn’t work, in fact it backfired spectacularly.

Winning an election doesn’t give Republicans the right to abandon the constitutional process to install their own version of dirty cops. That’s a sure way to undermine their legitimacy. They need to select candidates who are unimpeachable not candidates they won’t impeach because Trump tells them not to. That said, it’s clear that there are Congressional Republicans who are standing up to the process. And any data out there which exists to provide a more realistic picture of the candidates is leaking. The Trump Administration will find that it is mired in law suits for the next 4 years at best, and nationwide civil protests leading to widespread violence of the kind that existed at the end of the last Trump Administration. Trump doesn’t have a mandate to govern if half the country is fighting it, even if they try to pretend that it does.

It’s one thing to have a cabinet nominee who we disagree with policy wise - say RFK Jr. for example. It’s another thing to have nominees who have such low moral character. Can’t we find people who are at least decent human beings who treat others with the same respect. Obviously not in this administration. What a flawed person we have as the president-elect. This is all about serving his needs and agenda and not about moving the country forward trying to unite us. Sounds like a dictatorship to me. Very scary times ! ! !

From Wikipedia:

"On April 15, 1994, Richardson married Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the brother of her close friend Kerry Kennedy, aboard a research vessel on the Hudson River.[8] They had four children: Conor, Kyra, Aidan, and William.[9][10]

During their marriage, Kennedy was widely regarded as a serial philanderer and was known among his friends for sending explicit nude photos of women that they presumed he had taken, according to Vanity Fair.[11][12] The highly-publicized allegations of sexual assault against Kennedy by the family's then-babysitter, Eliza Cooney, allegedly took place during this period.[13][14][15][16] On May 12, 2010, Kennedy filed for divorce from Richardson. Three days later, she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. A court ordered that full temporary custody of her children be granted to her estranged husband.[17]

On May 16, 2012, Richardson was found dead at her home in Bedford, New York. Her death was ruled a suicide by hanging.[18] An autopsy revealed that she had antidepressants in her blood.[19] Before her death, Richardson had discovered Kennedy's personal journal from 2001, in which he recorded sexual encounters with 37 different women. According to Kennedy, Richardson passed the journal along "to her sisters with instructions that, if anything happened to her, [it should be] published in the press".[20][21]"

Perhaps, RFK jr is not such a high moral character.

RFK Jr. is even much more disgusting than we knew!🤮

Didn’t know this. I stand corrected. Bad example now but I still believe we can always have people in leadership who we might disagree with policy wise and still respect. Bad moral character can never be tolerated, especially when it comes to bad behavior between men and women

It is the definition of "decent human being" that seems to be the struggle. Good points you make.

Well now, look at the record of the man we have elected to lead us. This type of behavior seems to be the norm in OZ.

It is my sincere hope that the group of Senators that are concerned with these appointments stand firm against them and show Trump that they can’t be bullied.

By the time this country wakes up, I hope it won’t be too late!

So either Trump and his team didn't properly vet his nominees, which would be troubling, or they simply don't care about whatever skeletons are in their closets, which would be horrifying. Either way, good job America. This is what you voted for. Hope you enjoy the never-ending chaos for the next 4 years. Maybe it'll be entertaining for those who view politics as a reality TV show.

They vetted them but their vetting process was from another world. They watched videos of them on Fox.

I think the convicted felon wants to be surrounded by men with lots of skeletons in their closets. He wants to normalize his immoral behavior, and will feel right at home working with them.

Sexual assault isn't a bug for this incoming administration, it's a feature: Trump, Gaetz, Hegseth, RFK Jr.

Obviously the old "political scandal" rules don't apply to Trump and to those who he has nominated for cabinet positions. Hegseth's defenders state that "police found the allegations to be false." That is incorrect. They closed the investigation because there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute. To take down a political opponent, you need more than allegations.

Is sexual misconduct now a resume builder for Republicans? Sure seems like it, especially for a party that claims they are Christians.

Thanks, Chris. Only real journalists will bring any integrity to government. This misogynistic crime and all other kinds of corruption exists on both sides of the aisle. Expose, expose, expose. Only sunshine will cure this rot.

Gaetz still feels like the only one, but if they take out Hegseth that probably helps Gaetz. Can only focus on one at a time like you said other day.
