They're all lining up like baby ducks behind momma duck in the pond.

Anyone shocked?

Soon they'll be telling us how car exhaust and nuclear waste are the best elixirs ever known to man. Well that, and injecting bleach and swallowing horse worming medicine.

Good luck America. You want this.

Trust me, not all of us wanted this. But the MAGA’s are going to pull the rest of us down with them.

We have to resist best we can; there is no other way.

Yeah he's changed...for the worse (if possible)! Look at these picks for his cabinet posts; their primary (and for the most part only) qualification is sucking up to Trump. He wouldn't go on 60 Minutes. In the debate with Harris, he talked about Haitian migrants eating cats and dogs. He hates Obamacare because of the name, but has only "concepts" of an alternative. His meandering during his rallies. His continued name calling and threats.

Bezos is just being a suck-up who wants more tax cuts down to paying zero. Perhaps HE wants a cabinet position too, whatever is left.

Bezos is boot licking and kissing Trump’s ass! The same tactics used by the MSNBC crew that blew up in their faces!

Just when I was willing to forgive Bezos…

Seriously, WaPo has been calling out the massive fails we’ve already seen from Trump’s return. But will this hard-hitting coverage continue?

Trump will NEVER change—he’s psychopath, he only gets worse!

As Trump says...they always bend the knee.

More appropriately, Jeff Bezos Redemption Tour for NOT allowing WaPo to endorse Kamala Harris Continues. Who the eff cares what Jeff Bezos says or why? If he ever had any credibility, it's long gone. Just like Musk. You know what you can do with both of them, right?

Both are WORTHLESS!

maybe Bezos can take some of his billions and buy a spine. I guess subservience and humliating yourself pays on some level...especially if you live in a world without mirrors

I don’t think you’re wrong! I listened to the whole Bezos interview and found it somewhat encouraging - a reminder that while America has voted in a complete lunatic who will surely do much damage, we also have a lot of resources and creativity.

Bezos optimism was refreshing amidst the doom and gloom that seems like an unending drumbeat in the news.

Yeah it’s easier to be upbeat as the world’s second richest guy - for sure! But at the end of the day, he is surely right that putting the most positive spin on a bad situation is usually the best path- especially when you can’t immediately change or get out of that situation.

Full con-mode! A liar is a liar is a liar is a liar. Write those words 100 times, then go sit in a corner for an hour. Then wash ur mouth out with soap, then jump off the roof. Then and only then you might come to ur senses. 🤪

Aahhhh 🤣. As tempting as that sounds under the circumstances, ima try to find that silver lining and move forward🤣

Believe it or not, I’m an optimist, although seeing hope when there is none is denial of the real circumstances and partially how we got to this place and time. DJT will pass and things will get better, but.. DJT has/will cost civilization many years of advancement in every category that were paid for by many people, especially the people who keep us safe! With their lives! He’s a test. A full on test between good and evil and being a pacifist is not in my future. He must be prevented from accomplishing his heinous agenda. I’m praying there are enough good people in our country to get this done but as of now, there is no rational reason to think that way.

The real test was if we would vote him back into office in 2024 and we failed. If he lost the election, he likely would have ended up in jail at some point for trying to steal the 2020 election and stealing classified documents. We failed and there will be consequences for decades because of it.

I agree. IF we get back to that situation which is questionable. I’m fighting for my kids. It won’t help me at my current age. It’ll be decades to get back to 2023 freedoms!

While im concerned for my kids, as well, I’m at the age where I’m HIGHLY concerned that Trump will let the Republicans in Congress go after my Social Security and Medicare, and I’m not certain I can survive the 4 years until we get a reasonable President back in office.

What you call optimism, I call craven self-interest, which has always been Bezos' way. Read The Everything War if you don't believe me.

If anyone has a good substitute for Amazon, please reply. I think I need an alternative.

Expand full comment

I haven't bought from Amazon since before the pandemic. It's really not that hard. You just have to be willing to spend a little more time searching for an alternative seller because Amazon dominates Google search. We buy directly from a company when possible (just try to make sure their orders aren't fulfilled by Amazon) and also buy local at smaller brick and mortar stores when we can.

Same. Ebay works for a lot - lot of larger sellers there. Wal-Mart, which is only a minor improvement. Unfortunately a lot of searches to what appear to be independent vendors just end up back at Amazon. And if you're enmeshed in the Kindle ecosystem, good luck.

We stopped Prime when they started making excuses for long delivery times to our rural area. I'm now watching the Washington DC lawsuit with great interest.

Good for Bezos. He's a billionaire, so how bad is he going to suffer?

Trump is calmer and wiser than he was the first time around?

Seriously? Wait until he starts going after his enemies for retribution. Then let's talk.

The media is under attack from its own billionaire owners who Trump is engaging with using various quid pro quos to keep them on line. Increasing editorial control of stores by NYT, WA Post and the increasing Mika and Joe story suppression disaster on MSNBC. This is what Hitler did, what Putin does and it all erodes democracy by hiding stories that aren’t supportive of the government regime.

At some point Trump will come for social media. That plan isn’t working so well thanks to Musk’s heavy handed editorial approach on X which mainstream media are beginning to follow themselves, but causes subscribers to flee. This time next year, mainstream media will be basically dead.

Protecting independent and unbiased news is going to be key.

Disgusting Bezos, just disgusting!

While I agree with your overall point, Chris, ie that Trump has not “changed for the better”, I think that he’s gotten SO much worse than ever! You say that he’s more himself now than before, and maybe we’re essentially saying the same thing, but I think that his lack of introspection and his lack of impulse control has only gotten *worse* over time.

Call it “normal aging” or “cognitive decline”, but as we get older, we lose some of our “filters” and become more of our core self, much in the way that you boil a sauce down to a “reduction” that further concentrates and heightens its essential flavor (yes, I’m a “foodie”!). I think that’s what we’re seeing with Trump…

Yes, because he's on drugs. That's why he is calmer. I am calling Bullshit on Bezos. What a fool!

What a bunch of totally transparent BS. It’s pure suck up to Trump. As always, it’s all about the money with these super rich guys. Never heard of morals and ethics.
