Chris

was excited to hear that your sources are all of my sources.... and here is the point for why i subscribe; while i am certainly able to read and draw some broad conclusions, I lack the specific knowledge that you have to bring it all together. I think this first foray into a morning video newsletter is exactly what i am referring to, I NEVER would have been able to pick out the details about JFK. So, thanks, buddy, now i am even more terrified than i was when i woke up (hahah... i've been terrified for a long time now)

This is a great idea and a nice companion to the Sunday e-mail. I also appreciate that there is a transcript, for people like me, who prefer reading to video

YES to the transcipt! I'm usually working when reading, so video and sound doesn't work as well.

Another great way of adding value for your subscribers. Kind of like CNNs 5 things (sorry).

Bummer. I don't like to watch videos. I'd much rather read your wonderful pieces. Very sad.

This is great. The Politico piece confirms my thinking this last week has been correct. After reading multiple news accounts, I felt not enough emphasis was being placed on what went down in Tahoe, and with McDougal, and who knows how many others. Yet, Trump has always been a playboy. Evangelicals are seemingly the only ones not able to get their heads around this. Most people know Trump has been a playboy who runs a fairly questionable business. The man has promoted himself as such, and had a reality show showcasing why his efforts meet with bankruptcy. His defense is a rejection of the persona we've come to know, and it is taking off like a lead balloon.

Unless a Trump zealot got on the jury by lying their way through selection, Trump will be convicted, barring any real, evidence-based facts offered by the defense, or a better narrative other than ”Deep state! They're all lying to get me.”. It's not going to work here (that angle plays better with the other trials, but not this one).

I'd like the odds on Trump testifying. With this defense, it would be his only chance for acquittal. The jury will want to hear, from him, how it is that he's being persecuted and falsely accused. It would seem to me that the defense has told him this while also informing him that he should in no way consider testifying. These folks are girding their loins against an ineffective counsel claim, post-conviction.

We need to be ready for Merchan to throw the book at Trump. My prediction. Remember this is a ”People vs.” case, and the people of New York have a wider interest in knowing whether the Republican nominee will be a convicted felon, and appropriately jailed, at the convention this summer. Don't be surprised to hear Merchan say, ”Due to the defendant's ongoing contempt and attacks on this court and the rule of law…”, and fill in the rest with the max sentence. I also believe he will send him to prison immediately, negating any talk of, ”Well, the people haven't made up their minds yet,” or, ”Some people are saying…” stuff, because the people of New York will have spoken.

FWIW, I disagree on a few points. First, Trump will never testify- at least not without his lawyers trying to tackle him on the way to the stand. He would be adding perjury to his other crimes. Simply denying the sex would open him up to a perjury charge, and he lies so habitually there would be other examples. Second, he is highly unlikely to be sentenced to prison. These are not major crimes. He has no record. And sending him to prison would be a logistical nightmare. The secret service would need to go with him. Home confinement is the worst he’d get and any sentence would be stayed pending appeals.
