Agree...So, when does Musk and DOGE belly up to the Executive branch and start cutting frivolous spending, like side trips to Daytona?

Expand full comment

No, that would be too focused. Elon and his boys prefer to make randomly destructive cuts.

Also, America is slowly catching on to the fact that Musk is not really about cutting costs. That is just a flimsy cover. I think he has two goals in mind. One is to simply break things - just what Steve Bannon wants, even if he hates the tool (Musk) that is doing it. And all that work that used to be done by those fired workers, still needs to be done, so the trumpies will privatize it - making more money for already rich folks.

Let’s not forget that the first agencies he has gutted were those that were auditing “issues” with his government contracts with SpaceX, Starlink, etc. His self-interests are *totally* transparent…

Like, that’s gonna happen???

It cost U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars for him to again waste our money, while his puppet is cutting funs for children and seniors!

As long as he is owning the libs, his supporters will continue to cheer him on....even at their own expense. I don't feel sorry for them.

No one is asking you to….

There should be an allotment of money to each president for secret service and protection and once that is used it comes out of your own pocket

Expand full comment

But PINO Trump charges the Secret Service top dollar to stay at HIS resorts, so these trips are a source of INCOME for him.

Exactly it’s disgusting

Of COURSE it is! He will throw out the first pitch at the Nationals' home opener. He wants Mt. Rushmore to have a fifth face. He wants his birthday to be a national holiday. He wants an airport named after him. He is like Lonesome Rhodes in A Face in the Crowd. I'm surprised he hasn't gone to a WWE event (or has he?).

Expand full comment

Oh, he wants to replace one of the existing faces on Rushmore. I’m betting it will be Washington, because his image is in the forefront and he has a wig.

I thought he just wanted to add a 5th face. Actually, 5th and 6th faces, one for the DOGGIE.

I think we are all missing the point. The Democrats have to find someone, a moderate, who can compete with Trump on this level. We have to start having the same visibility that Trump does.

Expand full comment

I tend to agree. At a bare minimum, Dems gotta find someone w some charisma

Trump is a clueless narcissist.

Look. I’ve defined Trump in five words.

Done deal!

We’re inside the Emerald City - his reality show- he’s the Great And Powerful Oz. (That horror of a Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, is insisting everyone don green glasses. We must pull back the curtain.

Chris, your comments “And that’s the role he sees himself playing in the White House - star and executive producer of the world’s most watched reality show.” and “…he tries to create images and storylines designed to keep people watching” truly hit the nail on the head!

I don’t watch television, and have never seen a reality TV

show, but I now understand the convicted felon’s frenzied motivation for creating treacherous chaos, shocking cruelty, and unending destruction of norms.

I believe that he is America’s most dangerous man, and I pray that he does not destroy our nation.😰

DJT learned to do this via the "Apprentice"... See this piece ... https://www.salon.com/2025/02/07/why-the-president-elon-musk-mockery-doesnt-seem-to-bother-donald/

"Real business is hard for normal people, but for someone as lazy and dumb as Trump, it was impossible. Pretending to be a businessman on TV, however, was all gravy. As biographer Ramin Setoodeh and former "Apprentice" producer Bill Pruitt have carefully detailed, Trump did no real work on the hit show. As Pruitt recalls, producers and writers constructed the character of a successful businessman by "carefully misleading viewers about Trump," an act Pruitt calls a "fraud" and a "con." Trump breezed in for a few hours during the extensive taping to read lines, and little more."

"He gets to do fun reality-TV villain stuff, like threatening tariffs but mostly not enacting them, because that would create consequences he doesn't want to deal with. As with being a fake businessman on "The Apprentice," being a fake president is much better than the real thing. He gets all the ego-fluffing and attention, while not having to think about stuff, much less do any work."

So yes, DJT is playing a role and is pretending to be a president for the cameras ...

“At least 12 dead in the Southeast after flooding and heavy rains “

While Donald J TrumpMusk romped at Daytona and wasted AT LEAST a million dollars of taxpayer money, heavy rains in killed at least 11 people in Kentucky and one in Georgia. Oh, and he just told Georgia Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia “no dice” on an extension of FEMA.

And the media said…NOTHING about the terrible visuals created by a so-called “president” fiddling while Americans drowned.

It is only “GOOD VISUALS” because the media makes it so.

When will this “show” be cancelled???

You can vote again in 3 1/2 years. Elections certainly have consequences. President Trump doing everything he campaigned on, no one should be surprised?!?

Dems gotta find better candidates (not a heavy lift)

Presidents have been attending major sporting events forever. Teddy Roosevelt went to Washington Senators Games in 1906. Reagan threw out the first pitch at Wrigley. GWBs first pitch at the World Series after 9/11. Eisenhower went to Army Navy games. Trump does it better than most because it comes off as authentic. How many Presidents would have been cheered at NASCAR?

“Who among us doesn’t like NASCAR?” A fake but accurate quote attributed to John Kerry.
