Interesting video on the history & current state of the knuckleball. While it's admittedly a gimmick pitch, at least they could throw complete games. The lack of real starting pitchers (those who regularly pitch 7+ innings) makes baseball tough to watch for me but apparently others are okay with it. I'm a math guy so I get analytics but it's become a crutch.
I was heartened(?) if that is the right word by the WaPo map showing donations. There were more blue donations in my part of a very red state than I thought and not as much red money showing. Maybe they think they don’t need to donate. They are the super majority.
Chris, what would happen if Trump were to die, become incapacitated permanently let's say, tomorrow? Would Vance then head the ticket? A British friend asked me that and I said I would ask you because I have no idea.
It’ll be interesting to see if the polls are correct given the fundraising numbers. Are ordinary Republicans not willing to donate even though they supposedly are voting for Trump largely on economic grounds??
I found the WaPo map to be very interesting. It was no surprise that our neighborhood in southeast Madison, WI, showed very large number of us contributing to the Harris/Walz campaign while extremely low numbers of people gave anything to Trump. That's true of all other Madison neighborhoods. Madison is a booming university city with a heavy base of health technology, health care, insurance, other technology, the UW-Madison flagship campus and state government. There are a few GOPers here (a friend of mine once said, "too many") but they don't make up much more than 20% of the vote.
Petri was spot on. Mike Davis is scary, but woman who tried to get the reporter to delete his notes and threaten him was scarier. It follows the pattern of an illiberal democracy like Hungary.
Thanks Chris for the Soccer videos. Very entertaining especially comming on the heels of yesterday's also entertaining trouncing of Real Madrid by my most favorite team Barcelona FC.
Enjoyed going through the zip code donation map tool. What was interesting/amazing to me was that their first post on this indicated that Kamala had more people donate to her campaign than did DJT to his in EVERY state—but then had to repost with a note than they had not included a certain fundraising committee, that being one Trump National Committee, which ended up resulting in Trump having more donations in 6 states. What was wild was how blue the map looked in the first post (like 90-10) and how purple (50-50) the map looked in the second. Not sure if you can still find the first post, but it’s worth a look!
